Default Windows to the Wild / Three Mile Island

Does anyone tune in to this show with Willem Lange on PBS? ( http://www.nhptv.org/schedule/summar...wstotheWild801 There's no drama, gore, explosions or commercials!! Willem just hikes around to different places and narrates.

Quote:
Outdoor adventurer Willem Lange hosts this award-winning series. As he hikes, floats, flies and fishes around New England, Willem offers insight into the history, ecology and special character of these wild places.
Last night he visited Three Mile Island on Lake Winnipesaukee!
Quote:
Lake Winnipesaukee is flooded with vacationers every summer, but hidden from many is a 43-acre island of rocky woodland that has avoided development and modernization for the past 100 years. AMC's Three Mile Island Camp offers rustic cabins and a simple outdoor lifestyle of swimming, canoeing, sailing, and walking. Willem Lange visits this retreat to learn about its history, explore the island's beauty and meet the people who choose to get away from it all on New Hampshire's largest and busiest lake.
It will be rebroadcast twice this week-end - highly recommended!

I do, just not regularly! It is a great show!

I find it annoying that the Discovery and NatGeo channels are all reality shows now. I miss the hour long documentaries on animals and cultures from domestic to exotic.

Absolutely. Always interesting (and relaxing). Kinda like Mr. Rogers goes hiking. It's true; NatGeo and such now feel the need to go "reality" or viewers will get bored because of short attention spans. Geesh! We watch NH Chronicle each night; Willem always does a little history gig at the end.

I agree, NatGeo at one time is my all time favorite. Not any more. Lately I find NHPT extremely attractive with a variety of shows. Big plus are all those rock and roll, blues throwbacks.

Plus uninterrupted shows with no commercials!

Default windows to the wild

Just missed it. But will look forward to watching it again on Saturday.
Old Camp Idlewild on Cow held the same recharge for me as a kid.
And now you know I date back to prehistoric!

I have to share since this was mentioned. I pulled into the docks at sheps just as Willem was there unloading his truck and canoe apparently preparing to film that episode. So I have no idea who he is, I don't watch PBS, but my Aunt who watches the show struck up a conversation with him. Of course I went over an joined it and felt a little bad cause I admittedly told him that I didn't watch his show or even knew what it was but I will say he's a really nice guy and very interesting to talk to. I have been wondering how that episode came out. May have to catch it.

Looks like these shows eventually make it to their online streaming website for replay anytime, though this episode not on there yet......

Default Three Mile Island...

" is a 43-acre island of rocky woodland that has avoided development and modernization for the past 100 years."

I think it is an island older than 100 years and has avoided development for a lot longer than 100 years.

Just being a wise-ass.

Wow! Congrats!

TMI is directly across form me and a big part of my view. Once in while I see the lanterns of the campers as they make their way to or from their cabins. I've been over and walked it a few times, both summer and winter, and I kayak around it a few times every year. It seems to me to be a great place to take a young family. If I didn't live here I would have definitely taken mine.
