Building a Winnipesaukee Themed Man Cave : Need Ideas
Ok, this is partially true. Its going to be 1/2 Tropical, 1/2 Winni.
Recently moved to Florida and am buying a house down here. Wifey (God I live her) says the 20x20 garage is mine. I work from home, so a section will be dedicated to a few PC's, shipping supplies & product. I am a reseller on eBay. That said, 1/2 the garage will have a Lake Winnipesaukee theme. This is where your guys and gals come in. We have spent countless summer vacations for years. We love the area. If money ever affords it, we would be snowboards and stay in Meredith. I know I can source things on eBay and from local merchants, but I need ideas. Looking to go more the wall decor way. Posters, photos, etc. Not much for floor accents. Still working on the layout so I am open to things. Thoughts? |

Where in Florida are you? We're on the Treasure Coast. When you finish your Winni man cave, we'll come see it! No one loves the lake more than we do! Counting down the days till we're outta here and head north.....

Peter Ferber prints
How about some Peter Ferber Antique Boat show posters? They are available from the Art Store in Wolfeboro and also through the Weirs Times.

Get a mural from http://www.muralsyourway.com/my-image/ and get it to be a sunset pic over the lake.
Then do the bar like a dock and set up Adirondack chairs. Instant winni! |

You're gonna need a mounted rock bass on the wall.
(Linger longer...) (Edit: Sorry, after posting, I noticed that gtxrider beat me to the rock bass reference.)

Haha...reading this thread and realized that I have something of a WinniCave cooking in my office at work.
I think that's it. Now I'm looking around me...never realized there was so much. My co-workers probably wonder why I'm sitting here.

You absolutely need to have a collection of old NH boat license plates.
I have a whole stack of them from when I was growing up, someday if I ever get a camp on the lake (still looking for cheap island property, hint hint for anyone thinking of selling) those will be proudly displayed on the wall. In the mean time they are hanging on the wall in my man cave. |

You can also obtain the Boat Show themed posters at Hawkins Gallery on Main Street, Meredith.
They also have a beautiful panorama image of Meredith Bay. As well as his custom photography and copies of old postcards of Lake scenes. They do very creative custom framing; we once saw an old recycled window with multiple panels that were window panels (6 over six language) where different card were inserted. Good luck ~ an interesting project.... |

Googling this just sends me all kinds of designs. Does anyone know the shape specs? Is this mahogany? Is there a less expensive wood that looks as good? What is the stain/paint type? Lettering. I often see Gold Lettering on the back. Almost looks like gold leaf. What is this? I found this company, but a bit much for the size http://www.fish307.com/adirondackboa...MP=101G1PDSRW4 thanks! |

Hi JasonG,
May I suggest you visit the 'Winnipesaukee.com Store; http://www.winnipesaukee.com/index.php?pageid=store You could frame a nice Bizer Lake chart, to dress up the place, inexpensive too! There are some other trinkets available that you may be interested in as well. Good luck! Terry __________________________________

Winnipesaukee Themed Items
If it is something wooden, contact Jo of Red Cranberries. They used to have a store in Alton. Their website is under construction, but you should be able to contact them for a quote on this page. They are amazing artists!!! Ask McDude, he'll tell you the same. (He might have an e-mail if their site doesn't work.)
You might find some pictures in our very own PhotoPost Gallery that you might like to have printed, enlarged etc. If you find one you like and it isn't big enough, e-mail the member. There is a lot of talent to be found. Dot Photo does amazing posters. They also do Vinyl Cutouts, which I have not yet done. I like Shutterfly for coasters. They allow a different picture for each one. ArtsCow offers many other options like blankets too. Most of these sites will send you e-mails with sales and specials. I did a lot of ceramic ornaments through this site. I have been very tempted with the custom umbrella. Good luck and be sure to share pictures of your finished Winnipesaukee Man Cave with us! |

Play "Loon Chorus"
Jason, how about downloading the "Loon Chorus" that CLA uploaded to youtube back in 2008. You could set up a scheduled "task" on the PC to play it every couple of hours. It runs 3:45.

Man Cave ideas...
At Black's Paper and Gift Shop (603-569-4444) in Wolfeboro they sell signboards of different locations around the Lake with the appropriate longitude and latitude, i.e.,"Camp Wyanoke Lat 43.5812 Long -71.2587". I have seen many of the islands, towns, and points of interest represented, and I am pretty sure they could order from their supplier any particular sign you wanted.
They also sell coasters and smaller versions of the signboards, not to mention a lot of other Lake oriented artifacts. |

I want one...
Jason:
Our good friend Bizer has a bitch'n 4' by 8' Bizer chart (he calls it a map) of the Lake. Everyone has a normal size chart on the living room wall. But this one is a real eye catcher. You can even put other Lake items on it! If I had the wall space I would plant one in my man cave. BTW My "man cave" is full of laundry, washer/dryer and baby toys. The "man cave" sign was put there by my girls in a poor attempt to comfort me. Misty Blue |

So from what I can tell, this chart is 3d with birch wood?Wonder why they separated Paugus Bay from the rest of the lake.

Paugus Bay Canal
Haven't you seen the new locks they installed over the winter? Just like the Panama canal. You maneuver your boat into the first lock and the gate closes behind you then the water level rises and at that point your above ground level, hence the 0' elevation. You have got to get out more SIK.
