Not needed for seasonal docks, but it covers you for 5 years on a permanent dock. Seems like a money grab to me, although if you know you need repairs it may be worth registering before repairing to avoid the permit process.
We need repairs on one of our docks which is permanent and I was told to apply this way. I haven't heard back from them except to say they got my application. I suppose I will need to call them to see if it's been approved.
