Just now, we saw two boats out near Spectacle Island carefully nosing around a rocky area. The double-deck pontoon boat had some kind of camera rig on the bow that could be rotated through 360 degrees. They also had a drone up for a while. See photo below. Anyone know what's going on out there??

So this is purely a guess… I saw that there was a report of a cyanobacteria bloom near Spectacle island day before yesterday. Then yesterday, we too saw these boats leaving melvin village marina about 10:00. There were a lot of men (10+) there and they had lots of electronic equipment with them that looked like iPads connected to something bigger. Not sure if these two things are connected but just offering this info as a possibility. At 10am, the lake was so rough so they had to be on some type of mission cause it was not a pleasant time to be on the lake.
