What is the tallest building in The Lakes Region and when was it built?

Not sure how this relates to CJ Avery's closing and being demolished, but I would guess either the hotel in the center of Laconia, (I think it is a Best Western now), or the apartment building across the street from it, (Sunrise or Sunshine Towers, or something?). Both are early 1970's vintage and about 8 floors or so...

If by "building" you mean structures like a fire tower or a water tower, then that might be a different answer...

I was just curious because it seems building trends now seem to be vertical resulting in more sq. footage with less footprint.

My mind wandered into the future and tried to envision high rises on the Lake. AT least a parking lot at CJ Avery's will be flat.

There will probably be no skyscrapers in the lakes region in our lifetime.

Too rural, too economically depressed, too few people.

It takes a viable economy and well-heeled investors spotting a need and willing to risk a lot to fulfill it, which seems to be lacking.

The only way I can envision it would be to build a tall building lakeside, and sell condos to the wealthy "for the view."

Maybe someday, it will be a parking a 4 story garage.
Nevertheless, many cities in NH have height limitations. I believe in Concord a building cannot be taller than the capitol. Can't think of a tall building in Portsmouth, a few in Manchester and barely in Laconia.

I believe it is the library. Not sure how old it is
