My throttle appears to be sticking and NOT operating smoothly.
Mercruiser 4.2 L, Alpha 1 drive (model yr 2000). When moving the throttle in forward position, it sticks, and almost needs to go past half-way before the engine speeds up ? Is the issue a 'cable' issue/adjustment, or that the cable needs to be lubed ? Thanks for your feedback, much appreciated !!!! |

My guess is that a cable needs to be replaced, but it may be that the shifter is sloppy or needs lube. If you use the throttle-only button, does it operate smoothly? If so, it's not the throttle cable.

Sounds like a throttle/shift cable issue. Could be rusty inside, kinked, or loose at the clamp near the engine.
