Sometime is it so hard to watch the ice melt and it just does not happen fast enough. We keep clicking on this thread and the webcams. We click a lot... a whole lot... just how much you ask!

While waiting for the ice to melt I did a bit on fact gathering and here is how much you have clicked on the threads since Ice-Out 2006, when I first started the annual Ice-Out Thread. (the colors are the ice-in\ice-out pairs for a given year) You were very anxious in 2012!

Thanks IG! All of it interesting.

I believe the 2012 data reinforces some of the evolution of the internet. In general (not just this site), the use of forums, and their relative novelty and newness, peaked about 2012. After that, it became similar to the old network TV model, the audience became more fragmented and diverse.

Devices moved from almost all PC to one with smart phones, tablets, pc's, etc. Facebook exploded, Twitter, Instagram, etc., all started to divert attention from what used to be almost exclusively a forum world.

While still one of my favorite pastimes, the forums no longer seem to capture the audiences that they used to.

Interesting on the numbers... !!!!

I.G., have you run numbers on your cam? I just ran the numbers on my cam for 2015 - keep in mind, 2015 is only 4 months old:

As of this writing it's 216898 ! That is amazing. Had no idea the usage was that high.

That number represents the number of times a camera image was viewed.

For all of 2014 it was 319659, so I'm expecting this year's viewing to top last years for sure.

In the amount of time it took me to write these lines, the number (for 2015) went up to 216906. Wow!
