Default Led side strip and underwater lighting

Is there an RSA in NH that makes them illegal to use on boats? I have heard conflicting reports. We were in Alton tonight at the fireworks and were asked nicely by MP to turn them off as they were illegal. We were sitting still watching the show. He was nice about it and complemented me on the way they looked so I certainly wasn't going to push back.

You should have not been asked to turn them off especially if you were at anchor with 360 degree white light on or at a dock. There has to be more to the story.

The side lights are led, bluish in color. The underwater lights are white, but I don think he even saw those as he approached from my now and I turned them off when asked. He pulled along my starboard side and talked for a minute. I was not anchored, just sitting in neutral floating in the middle of the bay. He said that if I was tied to my dock they would be fine.

No more to the story than that.

I'm guessing that the rule you were breaking is one related to what lights you can have on while navigating, hence the comment that you would have been ok if docked.

Though you weren't moving, you were not anchored so technically fall under the rules for navigation lights.
