i believe i've had enough of the pups tracking in mud every spring. i'm looking for any ideas for patio installation in northern lakes region, any suggestions?

second question if i may, what is more expensive, patio with pavers or wood deck?

I think you will find them to be pretty close price wise. Depending on the size that you would like to build. Pm me if this is something you would like a price on. As my company installs both. THank You Ken

and teach the pups to wipe their feet. No milk bones if they track mud in.

Depends what kind of wood you decide to go with also, lots of choices and prices out there. Hard wood, manufactured wood, Pine, pressure treated...
