Can someone please let me know where the closest spot from the Lakes Region with decent riding conditions is?
I have a trailer and would like to take the family for a day of riding on our snowmobiles, but Pittsburg is just too far for a day trip. My young boys are very anxious to get out this year. I have been looking at the NH snowmobile trail conditions report but can't determine how far north we have to go for a nice day of riding. Thanks in advance. |

Check with the Ossipee Club.
They were grooming this weekend after the snow we got late Friday night. Their trail out of White Lake State Park to Sandwich Notch may have gotten enough snow to bring it back to some fair riding? You can park at Canoe King, They also have local maps. Trail runs through the property. 1799 White Mountain Highway (RT 16) Tamworth, New Hampshire 03886 (603) 323-7442 Check their website for trail condition. http://www.ossipeevalleysnowmobileclub.com/ Check out Groveton Trail Blazers Nash Stream trials. A little closer than going all the way to Pittsburgh http://www.grovetontrailblazers.com/ From Concord, NH: RT 93 N thru Concord and Plymouth and into Franconia Notch. IMPORTANT: Right after passing Franconia Notch and the Cannon Mountain Ski Area, TAKE THE EXIT FOR RT3 NORTH TO TWIN MOUNTAIN! Follow Rt. 3N to Twin Mountain, Whitefield, and Lancaster (about 30 miles). We are crossing our fingers for some snow middle of the week. |

Bear notch mid week would be the best conditions and fairly close
too. Bear notch can be accessed off the kangamangus hwy and is a bit busy these days on weekends. Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk

If you are going to drive that far go a little further to Nash Stream, you can unload in Groveton. I believe it was off of 110 but it has been 10 years since I’ve been there.
When we rode in NH we always found that the closest place was always the most crowded because like you no one wants to dive any further then they have to. We used to leave Belmont early get there by 8am and be home by dinner with a decent ride in.

I wanted to post a follow up thanking everyone for their extremely valuable input to my initial post.
I ended up taking the day off last Friday and took the family to Bear Notch for the day. We arrived early parked the trailer at Fabyan's Station and rode north for a good 25 miles before my young boys were done (50 miles round trip). It was a great spot (small crowd) and they were able to ride their little ZR120 around Fabyan's and the neighboring convenient store for an hour or so after they warmed up from our family ride and still feel like they rode it on "the trails". It was only 70 miles from Laconia and offered plenty of enjoyment for our family. Thanks again! |
