It looks like it is growing, right up the mountain. With this heat and dryness this could get very bad

As of 10am this morning the fire still burning but seemed to be contained.
My heart goes out to our fire fighters in the area who are battling this blaze in this heatwave. Apparently 11 members of the fire crew were taken off Mt. Major yesterday with dehydration, heat exhaustion, etc. http://www.wmur.com/news/24158845/detail.html |

I went by about 11:00 am, a few small smoky areas. The parking lot was taken over by fire fighter vehicles. I can't imagine hiking up in shorts and a T-shirt today. Those boys and girls have full gear on and equipment to carry.
Probable another cigarette butt deal. This from the Citizen: Quote:

Cause of the Fire
Mt. Major Fire Contained
UPDATED: 8:32 am EDT July 8, 2010 "Officials said they believe the fire might have started at a campsite. They found a portion of a tent and a reflector stove. Investigators said they think someone may have been fixing breakfast Tuesday, and because of the dry conditions, the fire quickly got out of control." |
