Thumbs down

Well, its another black eye for the State of NH. The supporters should be very proud with the very "upstanding" way they conducted themselves http://www.winnipesaukee.com/forums/...ead.php?t=9471 . Can't wait to see what is next!

So if Channel 9 is correct, this also removes all the TEETH from the law!

Quote:
The bill also would eliminate a requirement for Marine Patrol to report violations to the Division of Motor Vehicles for inclusion in the person's driving record.
Guess the WinnFABS folks were afraid of violating their own law themselves and don't want any consquences when they do!

Exclamation Marine patrol

One of the representative have confess that there will be fewer marine patrol this year as their budget have been cut. With little money they have there will be fewer patrols as it cost money to buy the guns and to train the officers. Looks like the Capt. Boneheads who started this mess will have a great summer terrorizing the lake! To the supporters: be careful what you wish for!

That is crazy! Another BS law that will not be upheld because it has NO CONSEQUENCES. Pay a fine and move on with no damage to your driving record? Why would anyone bother to slow down???? Do they think someone that can afford a $250k GFBL is going to care about POSSIBLY getting stopped and having to pay a small fine? They spend more on gas in one hour that the fine will cost.

What a joke. I guess I dont have to slow down on my PWC this summer after all!

Sunset is correct.

For all the Noise against the Limits on this forum it DID Not Translate into emails to the Senators and Represenatives. All that was heard at the hearings was how many emails were received in Favor of Limits.

I spoke with a friend yesterday who is in the House-no where near Winni and he did not receive any emails Opposing the Limits but 100% in Favor.

---------

In any event...Everyone Enjoy Boating this season regardless of your Philosophy on this issue....

Actually if you read the current RSA there is no fine attached!

My guess is a bunch of those 26 warnings issued this past summer went to members of WinnFABS...unintended consequences...they probably never thought THEY'd get caught!

Just shows we are moving towards being another Nanny State. It is a shame actually. Another law that chips away at our freedoms with no teeth to boot. This only will drain resources because it now means that if you get pulled over you have to go to court (as will a MP officer) and a fine will be rendered. How does this make the lake safer?

Well now off to the governor but either way as Director Barrett stated at the house committee. "this will make little difference either way"

I am sure after yet another season of data proving it is not needed we will see yet another bill and we can do this all over again.

So see you out there!

No big surprise there. It seems every time you turn around the bad-guys win again. Although this is a minor loss in the grand scheme, it should serve notice to all; don’t take anything for granted.

The battle begins in November.

I suspect that over the next couple years the data regarding tickets and speeding (or lack thereof) is going to work AGAINST winnfabs as they'll have no ammunition to push other legislation. You got 150 ft rule, rafting restrictions, boater education, and now the SL. What's next?

If you read some of the comments there are people who openly state they are not boaters but yet support a speed limit and they "can't understand why someone needs to go above 45 MPH." This is why the bill passed. Perception and no data.

The bottomline to get the NH legislature's attention is $$$$. Tourism is king in NH with recreational boating being a significant contributor. If you can show fiscal impact, that will turn the tides.

Don't forget noise restrictions!

This is simply an on going ploy to try to rid the lake of performance boaters using the name of safety as a driving force.

Well people are seeing through that and Performance boats are part of the rich history of the lake and I for one am not going anywhere.

So far the ploy is a flop. No penalties, fines, etc. Other than the nuisance of being stopped it is not going to deter anyone that does the research ahead of time. Giant waste of taxpayers money and time for the lawmakers.

Maybe I'll ask the wife again about getting that supercharged Sunsation...

I just went and saved all the documents from the Winnfabs site. I'm sure they'll come on handy later when they try their next move. Some of us won't forgot the tired arguments used to push the SL

Some of the claims on that website are hard to read without shaking my head. Facts are certainly lacking....

The funny part is the claims for economic impact are actually going to work against the state of NH by detering boaters.

Using WinnFabs logic on stopping distance, we should restrict cars to 45 MPH. You'd swear that Winni is a demoliton derb with multiple crashes every day by reading their hyperbole.

Lastly, this is posted on their PPT slides. Is this even from Winnipesaukee?
