Default Amerigas surcharge

This should not be a new thread because the propane companies were discussed earlier this year, but I couldn’t find it. This is just a FYI for Amerigas customers: they have a new list of information and conditions, which includes a $12 per month charge for the new monitor they installed on our underground tank. At no time prior to this “no charge to the customer to install this device” was a monthly fee mentioned. There’s no question that this should be a help in monitoring the tank level from a computer, but adding a charge without first disclosing it at time of installation does not sit well. Maybe we are being unreasonable…….

Agree, but what are your options? Cancel account, stop using propane?

Request that they come back and take out the monitor that you didn't pay for them to install in the first place.

Don’t they own the underground tank? But, please let us all know how that goes

We are unlikely to go crazy over this, but it’s not a professional way to do business. My guess is that there will be a sufficient number of customers who raise a stink about it, and perhaps they will rethink the policy….just a guess.
