Default Blackberries

Do ya'll have blackberries out there? I like to pick them and make jams and pies. We've got them growing all along our roads and in the woods and even places you don't want them, like flower beds...

We have them but nothing like Oregon, which we have experienced. Here you have to find back-country areas that were timbered a few years ago - just long enough but not too long ago. So the spots change year to year. My wife makes jelly which she likes, I prefer raspberry jam.

I guess I could plant a few canes wherever we happen to settle. Oregon is overrun with blackberries.

The one berry that runs rampant is blueberry bushes. You can find them growing wild everywhere.

I am so glad we have a number of blueberry bushes. We enjoy blueberry pie all year long. We are very protective of our lakefront blueberry bushes. We have to put no trespassing signs so boaters won't pick the berries off our land.

I plan on having a lot of berry bushes and fruit trees as well as a garden. It's good to know blueberries grow there!

My mother used to make jelly and pies when I was a kid. Brings back some great memories. Now maybe once a year she gets the 'umph' to make a pie a surprise us. Nice thread.

Likewise, we have blueberry bushes growing on the lakefront, but it isn't the boaters that give us the problem, its the birds !! (my lab would swim out and lick the boaters to death)

I'd love to put in some blackberry bushes tho
