Default Moultonboro Hometown Market / Deli - BEST STEAK AND CHEESE!

Just wanted to make sure people were aware. I met one of the owners shopping a few weeks ago and we struck up a conversation. He explained that he can make me the best Steak and Chees Sub I have ever had.

This is by far my favorite sub! I have been around the world and I make it a point to try one everywhere I can.

Surprisingly the best I have had before was years ago in North Reading Mass at the Hornest Nest. Under new ownership it isn't the same for years and I have been trying to find another place.

Well Ladies and Gentleman, let me tell you he was right! it was incredible. I haven't had one like that in over a dozen years! I can't wait to try a Steak Bomb....!

I made sure I called and told him.

So seriously give it a try. I am not one to rant on and on about something that is just "OK". But in my book he has the best Steak and Cheese ever!

Enjoy!

Has the Market closed and reopened under new ownership?

Default Shaved or Tips?

Steak and cheese is my favorite also - with mayo and onions. Do they use the steak tips or the shaved steak? Thanks in advance!

Google can very easily be accessed from your keyboard as well.
Just type in the name of the business and they will give you a map with all the trimm'ins!

Default New Owners

There are new Owner of Hometown. They have done a good job of cleaning the place up and are nice people.

They are located in Downtown Moultonborough near and on the same side of the road as the Old Country store.

Great news on the sub, Hometown is right around the corner.

After reading this post I suddenly found myself having a craving for a steak and cheese sub and we were driving by the Hometown Market so I turned in. The steak was tender and the roll was fresh I don't know if I would call it the best I ever had but I would get it again. I think the most important part in making a sub is the bread if it is not very fresh don't even bother, so I was happy to have a nice fresh sub roll. If I had any complaint it would be that I would prefer that they incorporate the cheese right into the steak on the grill and not place the cheese in the roll and put the steak on it. Just a personal preference, I think it tastes better, the other way the cheese is to clumpy. But all in all I would get it again and ask if he would mix the cheese in.

I tried one the other day. Real good, wouldn't go out on a limb and say the best ever but well worth a try.

I had one and it was very good. I was wondering though if that the peppers came out of a jar. I prefer fresh peppers. I would definitely go back again though.

Default I hate that extra syllable

Until youse people (that's a nod to you, Pepper!) start calling it a cheesesteak, you aren't qualified to rate them

Sorry, the Philly in me can't handle the renaming of our sandwich.

A proper New Englander calls it a pepper steak sub. You can add cheese if you want to, but why ruin it. Mushrooms and onions are OK.

A cheesesteak is a southern dish, like grits. Remember, Philly is south of New York, it's practically in Florida.

This is just a joke, because I'm tired of ordering a cheesesteak with no cheese. I mean, cheese on steak come on, people don't put cheese on their T-bone do they?

I had one of their large steakbombs the other evening. It was hot, huge and Very good. Not the best I ever had (needed more cheese) but I would certainly go back. You had better be real hungry if you order the large. Next time I will order the small, request more cheese and have them melt into the mix before they load the roll.
They sure seemed like nice people, the store was very clean and you just have to love the melow, laid back german sheperd they have there.
I wish them well. My next stop there will be to try a pizza.

Default Nice People - Clean Place

I am happy to see the new owners are keeping the place clean. That is very important. And their gas prices are good too.
Yes, the steak and cheese subs are great, but I am now hooked on the Richie's Slush/Italian Ice. They have about 10 flavors or so out front. Certainly I will have each flavor tested in a few more days. A great treat.
I too look foward to tasting their pizza. Having slices available would be terrific.

Default Fabulous!

We too finally tried the Hometown Market steak bomb. We bought 2, but 1 would have fed us both. We got 2 meals out of them. Really really good. I highly recommend them. We'll be going back, for sure!
