Default Our Baby Boy has left us

Our German Shorthaired Pointer has left us for a better place. One that I hope is filled with Bugs and Butterfiles and wide open spaces.

Our 6 year old Pointer....Hunter passed away this past Thursday. It all happened very quickly, a matter of 5 days actually. To say we are heartbroken would be an understatement.

Hunter was a ball of fun....and when we went to New Hampshire, he was in his glory. Think about it.....he is at home all week and has the yard to run and play....BUT when the weekend comes and he heads NORTH....heck, he has 32 acres to just run! Life is good! Life is great!

From his first steps on the island 6 years ago to his last trip there, he spent his time just running through the woods. You could be anywhere and all of a sudden say....Shhh....what's that? And low and behold he would be come bombing through the woods. How he never hit a tree, I will never understand.

Another favorite thing was to catch bugs. He was Pointer....A Hunting Dog! I kinda think they meant hunting birds and such....but he was a Bug hunter. He would see one, say on the dock, in the sun and he would just stand there forever staring at it...and finally pounce.

Hunter will come home soon and when he does, our family will sprinkle some of his ashes in the woods of the island he loved so much. When the wind blows, so will his ashes. It will be like running through the woods once again.

If I attached the pictures correctly, the first is of him this summer heading North and the second is of him fixated on a bug on the dock.

We love you dear Hunter!

He looks like he was a happy boy, I think it's great that his ashes will be on the island.

Sorry to hear about his passing.

We just got back from a week at the lake with Sadie. How dogs love being there! Hunter must have enjoyed it so. It's just so unfair that such beautiful loving animals can only be with us for such a short time. You can be sure that we are thinking of you today.

So very sad. Our animals are our babies. You were so fortunate to be able to share the lake with him. He is now spending time with the other Winni Forum babies that have passed on. They are all each sharing their wonderful memories of this beautiful lake.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Hearing of the passing of one of our furry friends never fails to bring tears to my eyes. There is a special kind of love between a dog and his humans. It sounds like Hunter packed a lot of living into his too-short time here on earth.

Rest in peace, good boy.

He did! He packed "boatloads" of living in his few short years!

To all, thank you for your very kind words. I truly appreciate them. It is still such a great loss for us.

We brought Hunter's ashes home this week. Is it wrong to be anxious to spread some in the yard and the island? These past few days have been so cool and crisp and I would say to my husband, our baby would be in his glory today. Days like these he would be in his prime, just hanging outside! running! sniffing! and lounging! Maybe we will sprinkle some soon.

We will be north once or twice before the season is over but we will wait till next season when the kids are home from school before we sprinkle his ashes on the island. He belongs there as much as he belongs here in Weymouth.

I just want him to be free to run and run and run and he will be able to do that again once he is back on the island he loved.

Love and miss my baby boy!

I'm so sorry to read this about Hunter's passing. Losing a pal like Hunter is just heartbreaking, something you will never forget. But when you scatter his ashes on the island he will become a permanent resident -- and that will make him (and you!) very, very happy.

Very sorry to hear about your loss.
It's amazing what an important part of our lives they become.
It's been 2 months since Bonnie left us and I still wait for her greeting at the door when I come home from work.

I'm sure you'll reflect on all the great memories you have and the unconditional love they give.

Take care

SteveA,

Cannot thank you enough for posting that sign. I went and ordered one and it arrived today. It is already hanging on the wall and it is just making me smile. I am going to add a photo of him above it.

Everyone has been so kind...thank you all.

Take care everyone....
