Default Meredith Traffic

Hey there ...... has been a while since the big Meredith intersection has been a topic for discussion on this Winnipesaukee forum.

Well there ...... today is October 21, 2021, one month into the autumn season ...... the summer has come and gone, and with it the summer traffic jam has supposedly left the area for now now until next Memorial Day-2022 or so.

It actually seems like the traffic at the big Meredith intersection was not too bad this past summer, or is it just that I have lowered my expectation for traffic and now accept it as a long slow wait to get through the big intersection. Does anyone else think like me and think the Meredith traffic lights are the slowest and longest wait for the lights to get changed from red to green in the whole State of New Hampshire? .....

I live by the high school and also felt that the back up on high school hill caused by the traffic lights was not nearly as bad this summer as usual. Now if we could just teach everyone how to use the crosswalk lights by the docks...

The main issue I had over the summer was after leaving church (St Charles) at about 11:30 on Sundays, it would be backed up to Moulton Farms on Rt. 25 and took forever to get back home in the Weirs. Over a half hour or more. Crazy. Bumper to bumper. They did have two traffic cops stationed ( one at the church entrance and one at the Hannaford entrance) for a few weeks and I guess it helped a little, but….

Default Removing the police helped

Removing the traffic cops and replacing them with lights seemed to go a long way toward clearing up traffic. It seems to flow better at Haniford when it’s a free for all . The light at Moultonboro neck road needs work . That seems to be the big bottleneck right now in the summer

agree on the neck road. especially heading from Center Harbor. part of the problem is the number of iterations. Coming from Aubuchons, from the neck, left turn going to the neck road and finally straight toward Moltonboro. this creates a long back up from Center harbor and now on most days

Oh yes, the traffic up here is appalling!

It looks like Meredith made it ...... https://www.travelandleisure.com/tri...wns-east-coast April 7, 2021 ..... without any mention on the big Meredith traffic lights.

Yes, what Meredith definitely wants is a European style traffic roundabout so the traffic flow is always moving, and it never-ever stops, unlike the traffic lights. .....

Couldn't agree more......the roundabout at the top of the hill (rts 3/106 totally solved the backup problem there.
On sundays all the traffic is going south and there is very little traffic in other directions so the line just backs up and waits for the light to change.
Not an engineer but looks to me like there is room for a roundabout without displacing any business'

Dropping this here after watching to usual mess at hannaford in Meredith with people trying to exit to the left.

Why not make all the turns out of that lot to the right only and at the same time create an exit out to rt 3. From there turn right or left then left to get to 25. Would have to be way faster than waiting to turn left toward center harbor.

looking at the overhead view seems like it would definitely be feasible.
