Default fireworks at Alton Bay this Saturday

Capping the Old Home Day on this Saturday, Aug 13th, there will be fireworks from a barge in Alton Bay, starting at 9:20 PM (although it always seems to start at 930.) (And don't bring up the Fireworks on the 3rd of July this year, Pluuuuuulllllllllleeeeeeezzzzzzeeeeee ).

Come by car or boat, and enjoy the evening. There is the free concert at the bandstand from 7-9, food and ice cream at the various businesses in the bay such as Sandy Point, Pops, Shibleys at the Pier, Shibley's Ice Cream, AmiLynne's, JP China, Dockside, Just Chillin, Minigolf and ice cream, and I am guessing that White Mountain Kettle Popcorn will be there.

Come and enjoy the day and evening in Alton and Alton Bay.

Just a good old fashioned Old Home Day.

Alton Fireworks are awesome!

Is it my imagination or did they just add the fireworks to their schedule in the last day or two?

Default New, I think

I had not seen anything until the Baysider edition yesterday. I was so looking forward to going in our new boat, and thought I was going to be disappointed.

Now, of course, I feel really great and look forward to watching them in our Mariah.

Woo Hoo!

Fireworks have been a part of Old Home Day all of our 13 years here. The budget used to be split 50/50 between the 4th and Old Home. About 5 years ago the split was adjusted to maybe 60/40 with a slight bias toward the 4th. There still should be a good show. Who knows, they may even go off close to on schedule!

Argie's band, Bittersweet, will be playing by the Profile Bank tomorrow from 10a-3p. He'll be the dude with the Telecaster. I'm sure he'd appreciate y'all stopping by, if you can. We're not going - both Arglets are a bit under the weather....

Default Awesome

I was told that the company that was responsible for the terrible 4th of July display went out of their way with some added freebies for the display tonight and they were AWESOME. Some of the best fireworks we've seen in a long time.

RG wasn't feeling well Saturday and we stayed on the Island. Around 9:00 we were treated to the best private (professional) display we have seen on the Wolfeboro shore just east of Parker Island. What a treat.

Yesterday around noon in Winter Harbor there was a barge type boat loaded with something. It was being pulled or pushed by a normal boat. It was red and said aqau pyro on it. Any ideas???

We saw that same fireworks display here across the lake and you're right - it was outstanding. Non-stop professional-quality fireworks for 20 minutes or more. Someone spent some real $$$ to put that one on!

We saw a good portion of them from the top of Alton Mountain coming back from the bay. The grand kids saw them first and made me pull over and we all watched for a good 10 minutes. It was mostly just the tops of them, but still great to see.

Default video of fireworks

While on the new boat watching the fireworks, I decided to video a portion of the finale with my Droid (new toy #2 ).

Here is the link to youtube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNHqfvMLXK0

What always amazes me is the reverberation off the hills around the bay.

Speakers up, and enjoy the show.

Default fireworks

My sister and I took "NO Problem" down to see the fireworks. I was surprised at the lack of boats in the bay. I think they were great and the gold ones that sort of mushroomed as they exploded was nice.. I also took my father down during the day for him to watch the parade, while it was short, no bands it was okay. Dad liked the old vechicles. Seems hard to believe that the summer is almost over.
