Smile What a day / Military Aircraft

Two days at the lake in one weekend, can't get any better than that.
Friday cold and overcast, the minute we pulled the boat out at Silver Sands the sun pokes out and beautiful. My Irish luck.

Today, just spectacular even though a little cool. Once anchored off Ellocoya in and out of the water several times, hopefully not for the final swim / boat, but maybe.

Did anyone else see what looked like the new F-35 lightning, but were probably F-18 super hornets. Dark blue, two in tight formation. Two huge loops over the lake and then they headed south.

Still looking for the dock that public can use on Rattlesnake to climb to the top. Crawled by in the boat on the back side, and front side but did not see it. RSG help please.

One happy Bostonian, the magic elixir, Lake Winni!

I have not seen such a sight since I moved away from Loudon, NH. My guess is this was something that was put on by NHMS for the start of today's Sprint Cup race.

It is really a shame that the Military does not do these "fly by's" any longer. It was always done as part of a "normal training exercise" and did not cost the tax payers anything extra..... Too bad the ignorant people were successful in getting this fabulous practice flight stopped.

The two jets were spectacular over NHMS this afternoon at about 2 PM.

I heard them around 2:00 pm, but couldn't see them.

You may hike from our place. I will send you a PM.

Default F-15's

The planes were F-15's... Probably from the 104th out of Barnes ANG in Westfield Ma... cannot tell from this pic if they F15C or F15D versions.

Awesome planes!

I saw them as well, however I wasn't at the lake but rather at my sister's house in New Boston NH. They were on a NE bearing as they flew over... two of them side by side. They appeared to be F-15's. Nice to see some military hardware flying around. Sad to think some don't like it.

We got a great look at them from Sleepers. 2 F-15's possibly from Otis AFB on Cape Cod.
They circled twice just before 2 pm and then made a "B" line south to do a flyover at the start of the NASCAR race.

On a similar note...I was coming south through Franconia Notch last Wednesday when I heard a loud prop plane and then saw a huge shadow on the ground go by me. I saw what looked like 2 C- 130's (4 engine turbo props) fly right overhead through the notch. They were banking hard right and left as they went right down through the middle of the notch no more than a few hundred feet up, certainly well below the height of the surrounding mountains.
Awesome sight to see such a large plane maneuver like a fighter. You gotta know those pilots were having fun!!

Default F-15's

Correct, the Eagles are now based in Westfield with the 104th where they replaced A-10s. The 102d at Otis is now an Intel Wing. No more air missions.
