Default Male House Finch

He still had just a bit of color left.

Nice pic but all the ones on my bird watching app have a reddish crown.
Purple finches also have the reddish crown as well. Perhaps this is an immature house finch?
Always loved bird watching but find sometimes it is very hard to positively identify so many variants of the different birds!

They are both male House Finches. The coloration varies. They (the males) can even have orange coloring.

The coloration is diet driven.

She better not see that comment about her hair, or you'll be in a cast from head to toe.

Back to the purple finish.
