Default Ellacoya Barn & Grill

I've been going to the Ellacoya B & G with my family for the last 5 years. We probably go 4 to 5 times a year, all seasons. My last experience there the 1st week in August was not good. That is, the food was not good. I've always enjoyed the food in the past, but this time it was sub-par. 2 of us had seafood scampi. The seafood was rubbery, portion size was small, scampi sauce was tasteless. Very disappointing. Just wondering if we just hit it on a bad night, or if things have changed for the worse. I love the ambiance of the place, the drinks are good, the pizza is good. Hopefully this was a one time problem.

Sorry to hear that as the Barn & Grill has been one of of our favorites, though we haven't been this year yet. We are however going this weekend and will let you and the forum know how it was.

If I had to guess I would say it was just an off night for them. They are usually consistently extremely good!

Thanks for the review!

I have been going every tuesday for Pizza special every week all summer this year and last. I allways have the same complaint. It takes 45 min. for the kitchen to get a pizza out to the customer. Buit It is so delicious I forget to complain. Its definatly the best I have ever had. so i keep going back for more.

Got to think you just hit it on a bad day. We go to the barn regularly and find it to be very consistent both in food quality, portions and service. I agree that the pizza is the best around but takes a while on tuesday nights so we usually go on another night for pizza to avoid the wait.

I tottaly agree with you the food and service is execellent no question . but tuesday is the special $10.99 Pizza day/night so they are very busy. allways fourtyfive min for the kitchen to get the pizza out to the patrons;

Spring is coming!!! The guys are working hard on our addition and new function room. We will have a new entrance, more seating downstairs, and a full function room upstairs, with bar, for all your private parties! Also the country store will have a new deli area for sandwiches, soups and marinated meats to take home. Stop by and check out the progress. We are looking to be finished in a couple months.
With all these changes we are currently looking for a bartender/server to hire...stop in for an application!!

Default Parking

I hope they expand the parking, there have been a number of nights I couldn't find parking and ended up going elsewhere.

Excellent point. That has also happened to us a few times. Does anyone know if they plan to address the parking?

They had been doing what looked like parking expansion two or three weeks ago, still a work in progress. While the 1st floor lounge area will expand, the bar itself will not. The upstairs bar will be to take care of table orders, not a customer sit down bar. I believe that the upstairs table seating will expand over the footprint of the downstairs lounge expansion.

BTW, they still have $5 burgers all day Monday.

Default Ellecoya B&G

My wife and I went several times last year and have been 4 times this year. Love the atmosphere and the appetizers but the entrees have been consistently poor. Haven't tried the pizza yet but will next time for sure. We like the atmosphere so much...it's what keeps us coming back. We've resigned to the fact that we'll just go for apps and a cocktail or 5.

I hope the pizza gives us a reason to stay for dinner again.

Thumbs down

Function room huh? I went with a group of people a few years ago and they bombed big time! 30 minutes for a beer, 1 hour 15 minutes for an entre?! How are they going to perform with a function room and dining?? That was my first and absolute last visit there, hope they built a bigger kitchen to handle the load!!!

Thumbs up Love the Ellacoya Barn

We love the Barn and go there several times a year. They have good pub type food, a great bar and excellent atmosphere. Especially like to go there in the winter with the fire roaring. They must be doing well the place is packed everytime we go and the expansion is beautiful. BTW this pizza isnt too bad either.

One bad experience years ago??... I really think you should give it another try!

We live within 1/2 mile from the barn & Grill and frequent it a lot. It's always packed and the food is always good. The atmosphere is great and they have a great bar. Every waitress we have encountered there has been very pleasant. They do have the best pizza around also but it does take a little extra time to cook as I believe it's made in a brick oven.

You should really give it another try!

Dan

Default Always good

My wife and I go at least twice every time we're up for the week. Always good.
The specials nights are great (pizza night, Mexican night, burger night) Good savings and great food. IMHO the pizza is better than you get at lot of just pizza joints! Sometimes the wait is longer but it's a popular spot, often very busy.

Default $5 Burger Night at the Barn

I hope they continue their Monday night special of $5 for a burger and fries. Hard to beat the price-- and this is for a good sized burger, not something scaled down because of the special. And the fries are among the best we have had in the Lakes Region. Warm atmosphere, good drinks and good food.
