Default Chinese food options?

Looking for chinese food options close to Gilford. It seems to be slim pickings.

Any experiences with Shanghai in Laconia or China Garden in Belmont? Not looking to go out towards Moultonborough for it.

I did pick up takeout at Eastern Paradise at the Ridge on the way home one night last week. It was ok, but didn't wow me.

Our feeling is that China Garden is the best of the ones remaining. PhuJee was our favorite. You should note that if you are looking for take out on Christmas Eve, you'll have to find another choice. The restaurant is open but not for take out.

We were going to order from China Garden, but switched gears to Lanna Thai, which is very good. A little different than Chinese, but just as appetizing!

Good luck!

Default Green Ginger

In Tilton is pretty much about it on the WalMart side of the pond. China Garden is the best closed to home but not as good as the Green Ginger.

If you like Thai food, Lana Thai is very good.

No personal experience with Shanghai, but a coworker of mine who is also a Gilford resident says Shanghai is the best around here….

Merry Christmas!

Thumbs up Ginger and Thai

I third Green Ginger (Chinese) and Lanna Thai. Vong’s in Tilton is also a good Thai option.

Default Tea Garden, Concord

I realize this place is in Concord, but it's our go-to place anytime we're traveling back home. The Tea Garden is located on Main Street in Concord next to the Holiday Inn downtown. Easy 4 minutes off exits 15W or 14 from Rt93. I've traveled extensively to China, and found the hot-and-sour soup at Tea Garden to be the absolute best I've tasted. Very reasonably priced menu with very authentic taste.
Regarding local lakes region Asian cuisine, Green Ginger would also be our choice.

Depending on where in Gilford, I think Lee Wah in Moultonborough might be worth the drive.

The last half dozen times we ate there were awesome.

Thanks Dan. We tried China Bistro last week, it was decent. I will say their beef teriyaki was excellent. It was worth keeping on my list.

I am very familiar with Saigon, I lived in Dover for many years and still work down here. They have great beef teriyaki as well, the rest has been so-so lately. Lots of back stories with that place, covid took its toll on them. They aren't expecting to reopen the dining room, staying takeout only. Short on help and some other issues I have heard. Jenny is still getting by though.

Oriental Delight in Dover is my choice down here.

if you want to drive just a little further south, Szechuan Taste in Exeter has been our go-to for years!

I have enjoyed IKKO dover on Saturday (or is it Sunday) sushi specials (affordable, used to be)
. How's the sushi at Oriental Delight?

We make the drive to Portsmouth about once a month. Kim Lai is very good. We tried numerous one closer to home, none come close to Kim Lai.

I hear the sushi is very good. I don't eat sushi often so I can't really speak from experience, just what I have heard from people I am dining with.

Last night we ventured over to Green Ginger in Tilton.

The food was very good (although I am just getting over covid and I don't have all my taste and smell back yet). Portions were odd, some larger than expected but most were smaller. The pupu for two looked like a 1 person serving. The lo-mein was small but priced less than I see elsewhere. The beef teriyaki was great, so were the other items we tried. And we tried a lot...

The scorpion bowl was a waste. Premade, poured from a gallon jug and served in a large glass, it looked more like a margarita.

I didn't realize Shang Hai was take-out only these days. We tried to go last week and no-go. Ended up back at Green Ginger.

I picked up Eastern Paradise (Rochester at the Ridge) on the way north a few nights ago, still don't love it but the family wanted chinese.

Agreed. We picked up from there tonight as we were passing by. Ok, but no where near as good as Sea Bird in Wolfeboro where we normally go.

We have settled in with Green Ginger as our local chinese go-to. Food is very good and consistent. It has been our Sunday night ritual.

If you go, ask for Andy the waiter. He's the man!

I've never eaten in the restaurant but have gotten take out many times and the food has been great.
It's far for me because we are in Meredith but it's always worth the trip.

My wife and I just had lunch at the Green Ginger and must say it was very good! We both had lunch specials which includes soup and appetizer. The hot and sour soup is the best I have had anywhere! The food was excellent as was the service! Total cost was less than $23.00!!

We will definitely be back!

Dan
