Default Got 2022 Boat Registration

I received my ‘22 registration forms from the state yesterday (10/30). In the last 40 years I have never received them this early. Either they are finally getting efficient or they need the registration $ badly,

Default Boat Registration Question

I know I am supposed to sign the first registration copy but do I return all four copies to the RMV via mail? The instructions are confusing.

Thanks

I agree that it wasn't exactly clear as crystal. I erred on the side of caution and signed all 4 and sent all 4 back. However, that was a month ago and I haven't received the decals back yet, so maybe I confused the bureaucrats at the registry.

Default Calendar?

In the past, if you sent in your gas tax refund before 1/1, instead of holding it, they would mail it back. Go figure. Maybe DMV has a similar plight, so they are holding it until 1/1? Did they cash your check?

The stickers were out earlier than usual this year. I picked up this set at Gilford Town Hall a month ago.

It is confusing but I believe you only need sign the first, but you do send all back.

If you look closely at the registration form you’ll see that each of the four copies are labeled as to who that particular copy remains with. The first copy is owner, the one you sign and that comes back to you. The next is DMV, and the other two are agent and municipality. So if you register by going to your local town hall they’ll keep the municipal copy (and perhaps ask you to sign it), and I assume send in the DMV copy to the state along with the registration fee. Likewise if you register at a marina they use the agent copy.

For those that have been holding their breath waiting to hear how the story ends, the decals showed up today! Now I just have to make sure that I remember what "safe place" I put them in 4 months from now!

Default Not too efficient

I agree with The Real Big Guy, efficient yes, cost/expense savvy, not so much!

We have 2 older boats and 2 very old pwc, amazingly, each registration came in its own envelope rather than 4 registrations in one envelope. 300% excess postage cost all to the same owner (me) at the same mailing address. Now I wonder how much extra money the state is wasting on folks like us who own multiple watercraft?

Perhaps we could redistribute these wasteful and excess costs to help alleviate the damage geese are causing in Meredith and all around the lake.

Happy New Year and good health to everyone!

You make it sound so simple. To really save $$, they wouldn't mail out anything. You'd just log on and do your renewal online. Same as a fishing or driver's license. But then, the towns that look for the registration revenue would lose out and scream like crazy.

Don't towns get the current vehicle registration revenue?

Yes. There's a tax and a registration fee. Town gets some, state gets some.

Default Haven't received registration renewal yet

We haven't received our renewals yet. We have our mail seasonally forwarded, so wondering if NH doesn't allow registration renewals to be forwarded? Anyone have thoughts on that? This is the first year we've done that, usually would have received them by now.

We have always had our mail forwarded and the registration was never sent.
I go to town hall to renew.

They will not forward them. Titles will not be forwarded either. Now you can fill out a special form with your forwarding address though.

I register mine in New Hampshire using the Florida address. The renewals came to the Florida house a couple of months ago.
