Default Sunset Bob

It is with deep sadness I report the passing of Bob "Sunset Bob" Morrell. His wife Anne, his soulmate of five years, announced his passing on Facebook and said that services will out of the Peaslee Funeral Home in Farmington. Obituary information should be available in the next few days, on Facebook or in the Salem MA newspaper, as well as the Peaslee website. Deepest sympathies to Anne, their families, and friends.

I live here... I am always Upthesaukee.

This is so sad. Sunset Lake will never be the same without him. My heart goes out to Anne. Rest in peace Bob.

Default RIP Bob

A kind and good man, a great photographer, cat lover... he will be missed by all who knew him. As with most of you here, have been on FB messaging Anne, reading her emotional postings over the past couple months which have been a tough fight. She saw a shooting star last night after Bob passed, and believes it was him telling her he was okay. I think so too. RIP Bob. You will be sorely missed.

I, too, have been following Anne's postings these past two months. I have found myself checking FB numerous times each day just to see if there was anything new on Bob's condition. So sad... RIP Bob, we will all think of you each time we see a beautiful sunset.

Default A great guy!

I had the pleasure to meet and enjoy his stories of his racing past, his water skiing accomplishment, 'orb' and chair skiing as well as boating with him on Sunset Lake and Winnipesaukee.

He will be missed, but good memories will be cherished. His last days were difficult, but somehow God provided a paradise for him to enjoy it. Anne along with Wicked Acres.

I had the pleasure of spending a day on the lake (well, the frozen version) with him in my airboat years ago. Great, day, great guy. Very sorry to hear about his passing.

Bob will be missed by many who knew him and those who only knew him here on the Photopost. This past summer he took me for a ride in his new Larson on Sunset Lake and I shall remember that last cruise with him forever. I won one of his Sunset photos at a Forum Fest and it is in a prominet place in our home. RIP Bob.

Gods Speed Bob, which still may not be fast enough for you......

I am lucky enough to have a couple of pictures that Bob took... I won these at Forum Fest several years ago, where I had the honor of also meeting Bob for the first time. I have shared comments back and forth with Bob and admired his photography ever since. He had a unique eye, and made the world seem so much more beautiful in his images....

My heart goes out to all his close friends, family and of course Anne... the world has lost a great individual, and artist....

I remember Bob from one of the ForumFests and won one of his sunset pictures. I have it posted in my den. I have been following the Facebook postings by Anne and others. Initial postings were that they were buying a beautiful 18 acre home called Wicked Acres in Alton. Shortly afterward, they discovered his cancer and found out it was terminal. Then they got married a couple weeks ago and Anne has been a very loving caretaker with help from lots of others.

To those who remember the Forum Fest in Center Harbor (year?). Bob won the Smoking Loon bike. He still had the bike when he moved into Wicked Acres (which is 18 acres) and it still looked beautiful.

Default Sunset Bob

Did not know Bob. Same age as me, and born in the same city, Melrose, and a Riverworks guy at that! The outpouring is such a tribute, and the forum family will genuinely miss his pictorial creativity.

The forum is such a great medium for splendor that Mother Nature has given us, and the tight, charitable community that is so evident here.

As my 86 year old mother (spiritual to a fault, I've been relegated to PT Catholic) proclaims often We know not the day or the hour.

Bob, rest in peace.

That's where I met him, and also for the first time.

Sunset Bob, Skipper of the CQ (also passed) and I had a long conversation—about cars!

At the Center Harbor ForumFest, he was racing around taking pictures of everyone else, so I snapped one of him—naturally, it was blurred.

A sad RIP, Sunset Bob...

So sorry to hear...

For the Morrell Family.
A note of caring
As you honor Bob’s life,
May wonderful memories of him
Help you celebrate and commemorate his life,

Default RIP Sunset Bob

We were saddened to hear that Sunset Bob has passed away. May he rest in peace. We will often think of him out cruising the lake with his ever-present camera while were are out sailing. He generously gave us many wonderful photos of HALEAKALA several years ago. We still enjoy them sharing with friends and fellow sailors.

Default A Life to remember and a life to celebrate

Bob's love for life won't be forgotten - whether it was pretty sunset or a fast car, he shared his passions with us here in the forum and in the real-world. My heart goes out to his family and especially to his bride, Anne. His is a life to celebrate - he always had a kind word and a smile, and he adored his Beloved Anne. Hugs to his family as we remember him with great fondness.

Default RIP Sunset Bob!

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of a good friend! I wondered why he didn't come to "visit" me over at the Eagles Nest this year! I will miss my friend! Rest in Peace, my friend

Bob's Final Journey

Quoted from the video:

Published on Sep 17, 2016
A few years ago I was friended by a guy that liked to Boat on Lake Winnipesaukee - He saw me flying overhead and was intrigued, he reached out via Facebook - We conversed on and off, at one point he sent me his address and I would do fly-bys over his home - I would see him on his dock waving - Later he would message me that it lifted his spirits - We have never met, we have never even spoken

Last year I learned that he was diagnosed with Cancer - He reached out and asked that I spread his ashes from my plane at a specific location when the time came - I designed and built a device for this - He passed last November 2015 - The plan was for this to take in the Spring of 2016 - Although in January, I was in a life-threatening accident and no one, including myself, knew if I would make it back into the sky

This was one of his final wishes, his wife waited patiently for my recovery, she wrote, "whatever it takes" - Finally the stars aligned and we got this to happen in September of 2016 - When I finally met his wife to pick up his ashes, I was told that he would have liked to have shaken my hand - While it is true that we had never met or spoken, at least we got to take our first and last flight together - This is the video of that Final Journey

The Music Selection was their song

Default Awesome tribute!

Dad died in 1998, mom in 2005. They wish to have their ash spread on Lake Winni in front of their home on Terrace Hill Rd in Gilford.

In the fall of 2005, I took the Laker up and travel along the shores of the lake, after the final journey, I open the urns and spread the ashes out on The Broads in front of the old camp. My father, quite the fisherman was intimidated by an old bass. He made a wish before he died. 'Spread my ash so that the bass can kiss my ass!'.

Not to rain on anyone's parade (and I could really care less about the "rules" to tell the truth) but I thought there were laws about spreading/not spreading ashes like that? Seems I remember a family member having some issues some years back after they let too many people know of their intentions?

Sometimes it is better not to comment.

The video of Bob's Last Journey is so touching and brings back the many memories I have of him. It brings tears of wonderful memories to my eyes.
During a time when I did not own a boat Bob contacted me and he took me on a cruise of the lake that was wonderful. He and I shared our deep love of the lake that day.
Bob and the love of his life, Anne, followed us in his boat while we were on a charted 30' yacht taking the photos of our wedding on the lake in 2011. For these and many other things he did I am eternally gratefull. I miss him and all he brought to life and to those around him.
