Default History and Legends of Winni NEEDED!!!

I am a high school student looking for some ideas for a senior project that relates to Winnipesaukee, and I need some ideas and suggestions. This is a semester long project. I would like to document some interesting history or legends for the community to enjoy learning about. So much has been done through the years so I am trying to find something unique. History of camps, steamboat wrecks, audio shoreline boat tour, famous home owners through the centuries etc. I am open to all suggestions!! Can't wait to hear your thought111s

1st 4walls, welcome to the forum.

While you may have already done this, suggest paging back through the posts on the history forum and the diving forum. There is a lot of material there and you can add a follow-up post on any of the threads to ask additional questions.

Good luck!

I suggest the ships of Winni. I rich history and a ton of information available.

Another suggestion is the history of the area's wildlife including the fishery.

Default Jack Irwin

of Irwin Marine. He will be a great source of Winnipesaukee history. I'd grant him an interview.

Not many in our community know about the camps, steamboat-building, and shoreline of Lake Winnipesaukee's Barvel Whang.

Default Tourism

I have always been amazed of the history of the early 20th century tourism of the lakes region, the heyday of tourism. Trains full of tourist visiting the region everyday, lake tours were booming and other business such as hospitality and rentals. Sharp contrast to modern day. Worth a look in my opinion. Good luck
