Planning ahead for mosquito season
We had a really bad mosquito season last year, and I am looking for solutions to keep them under control this year. Aside from removing standing water sources, I don't know of any environmentally safe ways to attack the little &%@*! before they hatch.
Years ago it was a common practice to pour a little oil on the water to create a slick that would suffocate the larvae , but that's out of the question these days. Is there a natural product that can be used that will pass DES scrutiny and have the same effect? Do any towns in the region have an organized treatment program that they share with landowners? |

I have had some of my customers tell me that after cleaning thier property of left over leaves from the fall. That there was less mosquitos around the property. That is just something that might help. Also there are some plants that also might help. I believe one has a lemon smell to it, and the others are kind of a citronella type aroma. I will post if I can find the names of these.
As far as chemicals I dont know to much about them. Hope this helps. Ken from AcutAbove landscaping |
