Default Roads in Alton - Update

Was hoping to get those in the area or in the know, to update us here as to what exactly was washed out and how the repairs are going.

i know Rt 140 and then rt11 near Sandy point I think, but wasnt there others like on 28A?

this could help keep traffic down and be informative until repairs complete, and i need to know when I can get to Pops lol

WMUR reported that they hoped to get 11 open by late tonight, depending on delivery of materials. 140 is projected to be opened sometime Friday. This all depends on Mother Nature behaving.

You can get road closure info here:
https://newengland511.org/

Also look at Google Maps traffic view.

Rt 11 in Alton still shown as closed north of Sandy Point. Detour is Rand Hill Rd and Lakewood DR.

On Monday we were heading from Laconia to Old Orchard Beach.

That usually includes route 11 through Alton but the road damage had us spooked.

We considered going south on 106 to 4 east but there was the rescheduled race in Loudon.

That left us with 93-101 or to go north of the lake.

It was decided that route 11 through Alton was worth a try.

There was almost no traffic and a five minute detour around a bad wash out.

The detour was up and around through a 25mph road with nice houses.

I am sure they are enjoying this.

Default Rand Hill Rd totally open

Route 11 just west of Sandy Point is still closed. However, Rand Hill Rd is open all the way, so you can travel east to its end and re-enter Route 11 by the Alton Bay Post Office. Lakewood Dr. Is still an alternative if you are trying to get to Sandy Point or any of the Alton Bay eateries such as Pop's or Shibley's without having to double back on Rout 11.

Rt 11 has one lane open this morning with a long delay traffic light. If going east bound Rand Hill Rd a good option to the one lane deal. West bound maybe better to stay on 11 as Rand Hill will involve 2 left turns.

There was a lot of activity to repair the other lane, maybe later today 2 lanes will be open.
