Default Burg Bound

Anyone else heading to the "burg" next weekend?

I'm heading up Thursday night for four days for the first ride of 2017. They just received about a foot of snow from this past storm and 3" more expected tomorrow. Warming up a little mid week but then real cold weather returns by the weekend. Riding should great in all areas and trails.

Heading up the 19th for a few days. You should have great riding. They have a lot of snow up there. Enjoy.

Default Great Riding!

Trails are excellent pretty much everywhere even around town. Here's a pic of my brother in law at diamond peak this morning. It was 8 below zero when this pic was taken this morning....

It was! Just got back. Some of the best riding I ever had up there. Trails were top notch for three days straight even Sunday afternoon the trails were still in perfect shape due to the cold. -8 in the morning, single digits and low teens during the day. They groomed every night even Saturday night which surprised me. There is just a ton of snow North and West of Young's! South was great but not sure how it will hold up with the anticipated warm up and rain expected this week...

I don't think that will screw things up to bad. Even in the lakes region forecast is only getting into the mid to upper 30's so long as we don't see a ton of rain.

Was -4 yesterday morning, started at Magalloway Rd... but surprisingly enough the conditions were very very good.

Just makes for a very LONG day doing an up and back from Hooksett.

Great news. Thanks for the update. Heading up with Clozetguy Thursday morning thru Sunday. I've never done that trip in day but if we don't get snow here soon maybe giving it a try.

Wow, yes long day for sure! I bet the ride back was a killer after being in the cold all day! Probably slept like a baby when you got home! I give you an A for effort that's for sure!!

How were the trails South of Young's if you made it that way??

Pretty much junk - I stopped at the Lake Francis dam parking lot looking to unload there, the parking lot was a sheet of ice and the trail in and out of there was down to 75% dirt 25% snow so not even good enough to call snirt. Young's parking lot was a skating rink too.

What a difference it made to go an extra few miles up the road though. rode as far south as the PT 112/Corr 18 intersection that was all good. West side of Rt 3 was OK but the coverage got bad just before you got to back lake on PT 140. Was clear the warm up hit it hard up there too, but the nice thing is PRR got out there and groomed everything flat which froze up rock hard, and a dusting of snow on Friday put just enough down to keep the machine cool without the need for ice scratchers or picks. Riding was flat and fast. Great for cruising at 40- 50 MPH flat as a pancake, plus it wasn't crowded. Just needed to know where to go to stay in the good stuff. Cool thing is gave me an excuse to ride all the way to the US Border crossing, never been there before.

More snow is headed our way so that will help immensely up there but sadly for much of the state it's starting from nothing.

Found some friendly birds to share a little lunch with on the trail

Default Too much snow...

Almost too much snow out west, if there is such a thing... Great fun to head off the trail into the powder, until you get stuck in over 8' of powder.

Awesome pics with the Grey Jay, Maxum! They are known to land in hand like that. Very cool.

Just back from the Burg today. Had very good riding Thursday and Friday. Saturday was good till noon but it was warm with drizzle and a lot of sleds so the trails took a beating. We quit a 3 Saturday. They didn't groom Saturday nite as it was warm so we left Sunday AM. They need snow and cold now. Trails in and around town are very thin and starting to get muddy.

We stayed away from the area over the weekend, instead rode from Faybayns to Berlin then to Milan and back. Trails were excellent on the west side of Berlin, but got busy towards Milan and were a little torn up with some thin areas. Today we rode in the Lincoln/Franconia Notch area and the trails were groomed with decent cover.
