Default Bark for your park contest

Laconia, NH is Nominated for a Chance to Win $100,000 to Build a New Dog Park. Vote for Laconia in PetSafe® brand’s fifth annual Bark for Your Park Contest

Laconia, NH (May 27, 2015) – Happy Tails Dog Park of the Lakes Region is excited to announce that Laconia has been nominated for a chance to win $100,000 to help our dogs have a space they can call their own.

PetSafe® brand, an industry leader in the development of innovative pet behavioral, containment and lifestyle product solutions, is giving five U.S. communities the opportunity to win funds to help build a dog park in its fifth annual Bark for Your Park Contest. The contest, which launched on May 13, 2015, will award one $100,000 grand prize and four finalists with $25,000 each to build an off-leash dog park in their community.

“The contest is an exciting opportunity for us to be able to move forward with building an off-leash dog park on the land Laconia has indicated we can use for the park,” explains Ginny Martin, President of the Happy Tails Dog Park of the Lakes Region group that has been promoting a dog park in the area for several years. “I think it’s also important that area towns realize that they, as well as visitors to the area, will be able to use the proposed park. Dog parks are needed to provide the socialization, play and exercise dogs need to be happy and healthy, and there is nothing to provide this currently in the Lakes Region. Anyone can vote for our park so we would appreciate everyone’s support to help make this park a reality.”

From May 13 through June 10, vote for Laconia every day on www.petsafe.net/barkforyourpark and Facebook.com/petsafebrand. Population size and total number of votes will be used to select 15 finalist communities, which will be announced on June 17.

For more information about the Happy Tails Dog Park of the Lakes Region, please visit www.htdpnh.org and on Facebook at www.facebook.com/HappyTailsDogParkNH . Donations to support building the dog park may be sent to Happy Tails Dog Park, P. O. Box 6184, Laconia, NH 03247.

Default Dog Park

I sincerely wish dog owners in the area use the dog park. Lately many dog owners are using the beaches at Ahern State Park for their dogs recreation. Unfortunately they have not been 'polite' and scoop up after themselves. The beach area are loaded with dog feces! The state do not patrol the park nor do they do any maintenance. It is for the enjoyment of all.

I walk the park last weekend and had to be careful not to step on feces. It is getting to be a pain.

Default Bark For Your Park

This is exactly why a dog park is needed in the area. This would be located in Laconia but would be available to all Lakes Region residents and their guests. The project has passed one stage - found the land, gotten tentative approval from the City - and is now in the Engineering stages. Come to the fundraiser at Patrick's Pub this evening to get more information and see plans for the park. Silent Auction of birdhouses, which are beautiful - and a wonderful meal. Patrick's donating a portion of the meals sold this evening to the park. Just tell the server you are there in support of Happy Tails.
And, by the way, I am involved with the group but do not have a dog! And I know how much this park is needed.
