Wink Moultonboro Trails Snow Friday????

15 Mar 07
Warning!!!
The Moultonboro Snowmobile Club trails were posted closed on 13 Mar 07 and the gates were closed the following day, Wednesday 14 Mar 07, to prevent damage to the landowners property by unauthorized use.

However, a snowstorm is forecasted for Friday afternoon into Saturday morning with an estimated 12" to 18" of snow accumulation for our area. Consequently, Friday morning, crews will be out to reopen the gates in anticipation of the storm. The last time such heavy snowfall was forecasted for our area, we ended up with only about 8". Most of the MSC trail system has no snow base. As always, snowmobilers should use caution on the trails. Check the website for the status of trail openings.

Grooming will be done only if depths of snow warrant it. Warmer expected temperatures next week will make short work of this snow. Stay on the marked trails and avoid damage to the landowners property. Without the landowners we have no trails.

Check the Club website for further details.

I will try to keep every one updated as to what the Storm actually brings us in snowfall and what the trail conditions are.

Default Trails Are Opem But?

The Trails are open but we did not receive any where near the predicted amount of snow. It is averaging between 3 to 6 inches. We have had rain and frozen rain for early this morning till about 0ne this afternoon. There is a 1" crust of frozen "stuff" and then a heavy wet snow under it. There may be some fair riding later in the afternoon. Tomorrow should be oK.

Winnocturn,

Thanks for the trail update. Do you know how the lake conditions are for riding? Thanks again.

Default Lake conditions

The Nightrider was on Winter Harbor yesterday. About 6" snow with a couple more inches of sugar snow on top. Not bad riding at all. The Nightrider was fishing also. There's from 14" to 16" of ice where the Nightrider was fishing on the eastern shore of Winter Harbor. Fishing should be safe until March 31 and there should be at least one more weekend of good riding, if not two. The Nightrider's shanty was pulled Friday. Only one other was still to be seen yesterday. Good luck to whom ever has to get that off the ice.

Default Trail Conditions

We had the "Tucker" out Saturday night through to Sunday morning. We found an average of 6 to 8 inches in most parts of the upper trails along Route 25. "Red Hill" had some drifting. The over night temperatures helped to firm things up. The “Tack Truck" was out grooming the Trails on the Route 109side of town. It appears there was very light traffic on the trails yesterday; this will help keep the trails in good shape for several more days. Depending on weather condition tonight we may be taking the “Tucker” up to groom “Red Hill”.

There is a possibility of rain Friday and warmer temps. Hard to say what the weekend will be like.

Any chance the trails open up due to the recent snow?
