Dive, Belle, Doris?
Anything new on the Dive?
I see a couple of pics on Everything Winni that look like the Dive is sinking at the dock, and nothing recent. The web site looks like they are operating out of Wolfeboro, at least for evening cruises. I can't imagine crossing the Broads back to West Alon on a windy night. Is the Dive filling in for the Winni Belle? I seem to recall Winnipesaukee Flagship bought the Belle as she needed repair, but I saw her on land at Fay's last year, not in drydock in Center Harbor. And, what about the Doris E? Is she still high and dry in Center Harbor? What is her future? |

Yes, the Belle needed a lot of work so the Inn sold her. I wonder if they really ever will repair her though. I heard Doris will never go back in the water. I watched a Wolfeboro Selectman's meeting and I think the guy was the owner of the Dive asking about permits. As I recall he was questioning the fairness of the Mount and Millie B getting dock space-wondering why they were special. He didn't get an answer.

They may have had long term leases with automatic renewals built in.
But I would surmise his thoughts on the matter at least play a part in the action. Does Wolfeboro really want to be associated with something whose name has a negative connotation? Imagine if it were the ''Reef'' with floating docks that could be extended out for boaters to approach and some format of rather upscale menu. I could see the owners point were something in the right frame of marketing might be more approachable to the BoS, and town as a whole. |
