Default Winni Rainbows

I've been regularly catching some very fat & healthy rainbows lately. I'm averaging 3 or 4 of them for every salmon caught, and the majority of salmon are undersized. Just wondering if the rainbows have now become the dominate mid-water species.

I fished Monday and caught 5 nice rainbows to 18” and a 21” salmon. Word I heard was that one or two year class salmon died in the hatchery thus the salmon are either small or big, none in the 17-20” range

Looking at the stocking report on Fish and Game's website, no salmon are scheduled for the big lake this year, while 5,550 rainbow trout will be going in.

There will be in excess of 30,000 salmon stocked in the upcoming few weeks…

They did all the fin clipping last weekend for all the salmon to be stocked in the state. The amount of salmon that goes in the lake is based on pounds not quantity. So depending on how big the salmon are at stocking time which is usually the last week in May will determine how many get put in. Almost 60,000 were put in last year....

Those were put in last may (2023). They are considered 2 year old salmon now as they are 1 year old at time of stocking. These salmon should have a left ventricle clip...
