Default Hummingbirds 2022

Over the past few weeks, the many hummingbirds who usually visit my feeders seem to have disappeared. We've seen few if any in the past week. I've checked with friend in Laconia and he's seeing (or not seeing) the same. Anyone know why?

Birds are pretty active at my place on Cow Island. Did you get your feeder(s) out early?

Default Alton Bay

My hummingbirds, and I've seen at least 3 at one time, are going through somewhere between 1/2 - 2/3 cup of their elixer of life every 3-4 days. My mixture is 1:4, sugar to water. No food coloring. They come right at 1st light and keep coming to after dark.

I've got plenty just over the state line from Wakefield, NH. Love watching them fight each other off!

Default Lots of Activity Here Too

We use the same 1:4 sugar to water mix as upthesaukee and have dawn to dusk activity here in Meredith.

Thanks for the responses. Yes, feeders were out early and we've had plenty of activity until recently. I also use the 4:1 water/sugar mix, boiling the water first.

At first I thought it might be due to a bad batch. But mixed another and still didn't see many. I'm going to try again today. Just ran all the feeders through the dishwasher. Will rinse well, fill with a fresh batch and see what happens.

Also 1:4 mixture and same hummer activity as usual on Long Island. OTOH this year we have seen many fewer deer, squirrels, almost any wildlife except birds on the daily 7 am walk.
