Default Bald Eagle

Monday I spotted this male adult Bald Eagle, high atop a Scrub Pine on Paugus Bay.

I don't think you can tell unless there is another of the oposite sex near by. Both look the same, females larger. Juveniles don't have the classic white heads, etc. I suppose if there is a leg band you can look the bird up by its number.

A female Eagle is much larger than a male (30% larger) and I can tell this one's relative size by the size of the branches surrounding it.

Paul; What kind of camera and camera equipment did you use to capture this majestic photo? I assume it wasn't a cell phone camera.

Beautiful picture!

Thank you; I took that image with a Sony RX10 M4.

You can also tell male from female by the way the corner of the mouth lines up with their eye. The male's pupil will line up vertically with the corner, while the female's mouth corner extends further back on the head. But this is harder to ascertain at distance, and females are typically much larger, with longer talons.
