Portable Propane Tank Refilling

Hubby was out and about running errands yesterday and saw a small sign on Court Street (Route 3 in Laconia) advertising propane just ahead on the left. He was already planning on getting our tank refilled, so he thought "wow, how convenient!" It turns out this very nice man (Dan, or maybe Dave ~ hubby's memory for names isn't so great) is operating the propane facility at the old Aubuchon Hardware location.

They chatted for a while, and hubby discovered he'll also be setting up his own propane exchange as well. And, it turns out that it cost only $14.99 to fill the same tank we're accustomed to spending $16.99 to fill! The best part of all is you don't have to go wait in lines inside a store, just pull up and fill up.

The long story short is this is a nice local guy who's just starting out and could certainly use lots of customers! I realize this is out of the way for some, but many of us travel that section of Route 3 regularly. Let's see if we can't all support a local enterprise striking out in these very tough economic times.

I believe in supporting our local businesses.
I will travel from Meredith to get my tank filled.
So many local people have supported my business.

I just paid $18 in Rhode Island to refill a BBQ tank.

LOL...that flyer with the coupon arrived one day after I had two tanks filled for $17.00 each.

Aubie's in Moultonborogh have the best prices around for filling a tank. I used to think that the "tank exchange" places were cheaper but nope, Mark has them beat.

You also only pay for what you get. If the tank is half full you only pay for half a tank. Good deal.

PS. As you grill this Memorial Day please remember our fallen. As I kabob my scallops I'll think back and remember C-rats. Spaghetti and meat balls, my fave!

$15 for Blue Rhino Exchange at my local WallyWorld. $42 to buy a new bottle. I was also at HomeDepot but couldn't find their price to compare. If I really used a lot of propane I'de do a free swap at the dump. The workers there tell me most of the bottles they get are 1/2 full anyway!
