The Lodge at Smith Point
I’m sorry to read that The Lodge at Smith Point is going to close for the winter on October 11th. It will become a summer-only restaurant. What a shame after all the time and money that Mark has put into renovating it.

Bummer !
Was this a result of COVID or simply a business/financial decision?

Kind of makes me wonder why people devote so much time and effort into trying to get a new restaurant up and running, given the many obstacles and high failure rate.
It's always a huge gamble.

The failure of Restaurants has really been intensified over the last few months, and it is a worldwide issue. One has to feel especially bad for those Restaurant "to be" owners who had scouted out locations and signed new leases sometime within six months prior to the outbreak. These anticipated new Restaurants don't even stand chance (with rare exceptions). Let's hope 2021 and 2022 look far more positive........ |

Because of that timing, many restaurants were able to make it through that wouldn't have otherwise. I think we'll see more restaurants closing as the winter approaches and it's just no longer possible to sustain with reduced numbers and no outdoor options. came out yesterday that 1 out of 5 restaurants in MA have closed due to the COVID, personally i think it is higher and will climb if they don't get a holiday season

The Lodge at Smith Point
So, the Lodge posted that they were closing for the Winter-- understandable in these circumstances-- is there any word on whether they will reopen this spring? Hoping so, great spot.
