Default Old Dog Track in Belmont

Waiting to hear from any forum members who have tried the newly opened restaurants at the old dog track. According to the papers there is a Steak House as well as a Blues Restaurant serving "comfort food".

Question Racetrack

So I take it the track is up and running? not only the restaurants. My husband missed it sooooo much last year, that he's really looking forward to this year.

Thanks for the information.

Talking old dog track

I have eaten at the dog track "Prime 106"( not the blues
restaurant) twice; the food was above excellent, service
excellent. Lovely decor, servers uniforms very nice.
the tenderloin one could cut with a fork, crab cakes had large chunks of crab and great flavor. Chefs have all won awards in cooking, they are from Mississippi and Louisanna.
They took the time to go to tables asking guests if they are enjoying their meals.
We tried 3 desserts, we were all very full but...creme brulee just like in France- delicate and had vanilla beans
granulas, the bread pudding-warm and smooth- banana's
foster to die for. Servers all had experience in fine dining.
Bar was cozy- actually ate at the bar the second time.
anyway they have a great menu- meat is flown in from Chicago- they are paying attention to detail in their food and decor. One may not like walking through the gaming
section to get to the restaurant but the whole place
has been done over very nicely.
I wish them good luck, I will go there again.

Default Ditto to SupperClub' comments

Hi everybody,

A friend went there last weekend and said the same thing. Food was fabulous; delicious crab cakes and cut the steak with a fork.

Excellent all the way around.

Thumbs up Dog Track (aka The Lodge)

We went to the dog track for dinner tonight. They have three restaurants ranging from a buffet, to pub food to a higher end white table cloth affair. We went to the higher end restaurant and it was very good. They pretty much stick to steak and seafood. My wife had the lobster bisque and it had large pieces of lobster meat. I had a ribeye special that came with a tomato filled with lobster and shrimp. The portions were plentiful and the food was prepared very well. There were only a few people in the place as it seems that most folks opt for the lower end places. The prices were not bad relative to other higher end restaurants here at the lake. We were very positively surprised.

Nice to know! I've been past it a bunch of times but since I don't play the ponies or puppies I've never thought of stopping in for dinner.

I tried the dog track (AKA The Lodge) with a few friends Saturday night. The place is really nice, it's clean and modern inside. The atmosphere is nothing like Rockingham or Wonderland. I sat inside at a table overlooking the track. Each table has a couple of TV's so you can see the action and the betting odds. These tables have waitress service and a pretty good selection of food. I had a Po-Boy (sub sandwich) loaded with shrimp for about $8.00. Other people in the area were eating from the buffet, I saw plates go by with massive slices of prime rib.

If your a heavy gambler, you might find the betting clerks a little slow, but they should get better with time. Only about six windows were opened but they do have computer terminal betting, if you want to sent up an account.

Question The Lodge Restaurants

Just thought I would check, can you wear shorts and jeans to any of the restaurants at the Lodge or are the new places a little fancier?

4 days and counting until we are in NH.

Have only had a chance to eat at Bluesology so far and it was excellent. We were in shorts and tees. They also served the lobster bisque...outstanding!! I had the prime rib and wifey had a fish dish. Other couple with us also had fish and one had the pulled pork dish, both raved about it. We definately plan on returning.

Guess you forgot the old saying, "If you have to ask... "

Default Had a great time

First time at a dog track and it was fun. we all had the buffet which was excellent! It cost 10.95 with a "fast bet card" (which are free and you don't have to use it) or 12.95 without it. All you can eat from 6 to 9 pm. Some of the items on the buffet include Prime rib, baked chicken, baked haddock, fried shrimp, italian sausage sweet & sour pork, bbq shrimp, seaffood chowder, variety of vegetables and a dessert selection that will make your head spin. We were very happy with the service and selections. And we won money! Looking forward to our next visit.
Could this be a viable option for the Forum Fest? They entertain large groups of people by reservation and plenty of fun and food.
