RIP Al, "Skipper of the Sea Que"
It is with great sadness to report that Al Carp, who's User Name was "Skipper of the Sea Que", has passed away. Aka Uncle Al Carter who was on Boston Radio stations, like WMEX, WHDH and others for many years. He was such a nice man and will be missed by many who knew him here and in his personal life.

RIP Al
I'm very sad to hear of Al's passing. Al was a member and valuable contributor to this forum since the beginning. After meeting Al we realized that we had a connection from the 70's. He was a professor at a junior college I attended. He looked me up in some old records and teased me about my grades and attendance. We became Facebook friends and kept in touch over the years. Often he would privately comment to me about something posted on the forum, especially during controversial debates. Al wouldn't publicly debate these issues but certainly had his opinions.
Ever since I met Al he had health problems but that didn't stop him from attending almost every ForumFest. At first he just had a cane and then later the walker and oxygen tank. When we had the ForumFest on the Mount I was very worried about him getting down the stairs to the function room. I turned around and there he was. He never let his health stop him from doing what he loved to do. Take a few minutes to review Al's contributions to this forum. Here are links to his photos and blogs and if you search the Member list you can find his many forum posts. RIP, Al. I'll miss you. Al's Photo Gallery Al's Blogs |

To Al's Family
I say a prayer for Al and his family. He was a wonderful man and I and Mrs ToW were privileged to know him.
We found he had a great sense of humor when he took and posted this pic of Mrs ToW and myself at one of the forum fest. Thanks for taking and posting Al. We enjoyed your company and humor. Mr & Mrs ToW |

Rest in Peace Al
(I'm having trouble seeing through my tears.)
I feel totally blessed to have called Al my friend. He was an interesting and amazing man who loved his wonderful family and the life that they shared together. He also had a deep and abiding love for our great Lake Winnipesaukee. You were an inspiration in so many ways... Thank you. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. OxOxO, Celia |

A true gentleman.....
I had the privilege of meeting him at a couple of early forum fests, and chatted with him occasionally off-line. A true gentleman from a soon to be bygone era. My thoughts and prayers for his family and friends.....

Oh No!
So sad to hear, I really enjoyed his posts and what appeared to be a very dry sense of humor! RIP, Captain, and may your family and friends have joy in the memories of you.

Al was a wonderful man, who truly loved the Big Lake, and the culture around it. I remember his great sense of humor - he was a lot of fun, in person and on the forum. He also cared about the area; it was more than a vacation spot to him. His is a life to celebrate - I'm sure this is a very difficult time for his family and friends, but he left quite an impact on us here - he will be missed. I will raise a glass tonight, and light a candle. Peace.

I had the pleasure to talk with Al at a number of Forum Fests. I also e-mailed with him as I was in radio at one point in my early life and he was in radio for many years. He grew up in Saugus MA and I in Melrose so we found a connection there. His dad was a Dr. and mine a pharmacist so that was another connection we made. He loved staying at the Silver Sands Motel and kept his boat in a slip next door. I will miss all of his humor, insight, love for the lake and love for the people he met. He was such a wonderful person and will be sorely missed by many including myself. My deepest sympathies and condolences to his family.

You made a great impression on a lot of people. Some you knew, some you did not. That is quite a legacy. So as you cross the bar I wish you sunny skies, fair winds and calm seas. Our prayers are with you. Misty Blue. |
