Default Desperately seeking information o.d york and mail boat columbia

I have acquired the restored steam engine and hull fittings from the Mail Boat Columbia.

Researching and seeking history, lore, photos and any pertinent materials relating to the Columbia and its illustrious Captain Oscar D. York .

Especially interested in photos of York and the mail steamer, anything relating to the the same.

It has been alleged that the hill was built by the Fore River Boat Co , ca 1888 though also to George Lowry boat builder. We have no history of how, where and from whom O.D. York acquired the vessel and transported transported it across land or rail to the lake.

Through the efforts of John Clement, Francis Coughlin, Ted and Robert Valpey , Dave Dearborn , Richard Mitchell and others the engine has been restored and may be viewed at the New Hampshire Boat Museum and accessories preserved.

I will gladly compensate for photos, photo copies, memorabilia , history or lore relating to the above,

Regards,

Charles Chiarchiaro, Waldoboro, Maine

Charles I don’t think McDude or anyone else on here would seek compensation. I hope there are some responsive materials out there. I enjoy taking the Sophie C. at least twice every summer. The island residents and especially the kids are among the luckiest people in the world.

I also did see a listing of "Excursion Passenger Steamboats" and Columbia was among them 1900s.

Maybe it wasn't a lot of information, but I did spend quite a bit of time searching for something wanted "desperately." It would be nice for the poster to acknowledge that he saw it.
