Yup! Lots of wind and rain! Didn’t lose power though!

Wild weather today
Yes, but also sporadic. Periods of intense rain and wind, then just one or the other, the end result being debris everywhere. The water in Back Bay, Wolfeboro, is slightly lower than it was in June, and that was a little higher than normal. My guess is that a lot of the landscape companies have already done what they considered to be the end-of-year clean-ups, but after this storm all that work will have to be done again. Had this been a snowstorm we would be buried!

Lots of rain and it's raining again. Pretty windy too. I went out this afternoon, many brooks and streams where I hadn't seen them before.

Such a monster, huge rainfall on Dec 17-18, 2023 ...... http://www.wmur.com/article/nh-weath...21823/46170580 ..... a tremendous big rain.
The Mad River along Route 49 was look'n wicked angry with huge waves and very rough water but the road held this time, unlike in 2011, when it got very destroyed. How much water level did Lake Winnipesaukee increase? Oh, about 18-inches!

Just an fyi for those concerned.. Even after yesterdays rain, the lake is still well below "full pool" so don't worry about your docks...

At least there isn't really any more excitement in the forecast.
A few showers between now and New Years... but nothing intense. |

All that warm rain did a number on many of the ski slopes yesterday. With nothing in the forecast those snow guns are going to be working overtime to fill those slopes for Christmas week skiing.

But at least they can make snow with the stable weather.
And a lot of demand for them, enough to cover the cost. There are proposals and ideas floating all over the net to make some private members only with some pretty hefty annual fees. |

December 22, 2023: So, where is the natural snow in New Hampshire? Not even way up in Jackson NH ...... www.facebook.com/JacksonXC/ ..... there's no natural snow and there's just one xc ski trail with snow cannons that uses a lot of electricity to make snow.
How's the snow cover way up north in Pittsburg NH for the snowmobiles? Did that get washed out with the big rain and warm temps on Sunday-Monday?

There seems to be a trace around the Berlin area according to the NERC snow cover map.
It is the high daytime temperatures that we are expecting next week that cause concern for the ski resorts. Those temps tend to make people stay home rather than travel to the mountains. |
