Men From Maine
I always listen to WROR 105.7 when making the trip to the lake from Connecticut. Aside from having great oldies music, I especially like the Men From Maine episodes that they play. I bought the Men From Maine Vol II CD and I'm looking for Vol I. The original supply of Vol I is long gone. Does anyone out there own Vol I? PM me if you'd be willing to burn me a copy. Thanks.

What are you saying?
Did I read this right, you want someone to burn you a copy of a CD??? Geese, didn't you learn anything from the last thread on here (College Tuition)??? That's stealing the royalties right out of someone’s mouth...
Sorry, I couldn't help myself.. One of buddies is a ex-VP for Microsoft and he bashes me all time about this stuff. My cut is, if this is so wrong then why did they make the technology so prevalent and basically give you the means to do it? If I had a copy of that CD I'd burn a copy just to keep it in your car, so the next time we go for a ride to the dive site, I could have something other that County and Western (or did I mean Hip Hop?) to listen to. Yes sir, that just what I do. |

Treat your volume II with care, Amazon has only a used copy for $500!
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/off...Fencoding=UTF8 Are they really that funny? |

Men from Maine

Geez I think that's a bit expensive - I checked the Amazon page and it's a NEW, sealed CD. Still, $500... no wonder some people consider downloading from former Napster type sites. As for "funny", that's all relative. Many of the jokes are old or "groaners" but the way the Men from Maine tell them it's makes people laugh. Some put a little twist on an old theme. Some are more funny than others. I encouraged them to do a series called "Lads from Laconia" but, so far, they have ignored my idea .

Men From Maine Vol II
$14.99 still buys you a new Men Fom Maine Vol II CD from the following website: http://wpb1.webproductionsinc.com/al...&productID=102
There must be something "very special" about the $500 version.

"Moose-turd pie"...
"Men from Maine" -- is this anything like the old "Bert & I" recordings? I used to love those as a kid, and still have some on vinyl.

Bert and I
I too remember those guys. Got one of those LP's in front of me right now but can't play it because I don't have a record player. Say whaaaat?
I guess you could say it's similar humor. If I remember, I'll take Winnipesaukee Divers suggestion and bring Men From Maine with us when we do the St. Lawrence trip this summer.

Sample Men from Maine and More
Quote:
Well if you'd like to load something on to your iPod for your next trip to Lake Winnipesaukee (Don, I'm trying to make some Lake connection) sample some of the Men from Maine episodes. You can find a small collection of their episodes along with some of Loren & Wally's skits and localized songs on line from this page, here - WROR for downloading, iPod loading or playing while on-line. A few of my all time favorites include: Under Classic Dailies, the Panties + Gloves story is a classic. (it's one of their older bits). Cuts from Tom's Townie Tunes that you might enjoy include songs such as, The "Rectum of Edmund Fitzgerald" and The "Golden Banana" (the place you'll see heading to the Lake from Boston through Peabody via the sea coast route). And a Men from Maine song that some peculiar people enjoy entitled, "Buying a Sheep Tonight". Just a few of the several items they have available at the WROR archives. Could make for some nice listening with friends at the Lake Hope you enjoy.

Why not just call Doyle and ask him if he still has any left? Failing that I'm sure that Greater Media (owners of WROR) might be able to help. |

A little bit off topic, but there was a great article on Maine humor in the Union Leader (2/20), Tim Sample, Marshall Dodge, et al. Unfortunately I can't seem to find the electronic version. I have a hard copy and will try to scan it.
Anyway, here's a good web site http://www.timsample.com/. |

Airwaves - Loren and Wally bootleg
Quote:
I'm curious as to how you know Loren and Wally. Is "Airwaves" a clue to your involvement with "On-the-Air" radio? Wally is an avid boater, do you know him from boating on the Lake? I thought he did most of his boating on the Salty Brine rather than our fresh water lake. Your name, Airwaves, has piqued my interest.

Airwaves - Our Ears Are Open!
Airwaves, you skirted the question, how do you know Loren and Wally?
Curious minds want to know. Do you work for WROR? Do you personally know Tom Doyle? |

Yep, I dodged the question.
I could answer the employment question by saying yes and no and be accurate with both answers! So I will take the 5th on all but the last question: No I don't know Doyle personally, if I did I already would have called him to have him burn a new copy. |
