Default Help Wanted Will Train

There's a thread every year about boat registration. This one struck me as I got a renewal form today. The earliest ever. Immediate reaction was they're after money earlier every year.

Surprise! At least to me. The instruction letter has a "Help Wanted" section. They're looking for seasonal Marine Patrol Officers. More info at www.marinepatrol.nh.gov.

Default In the days of yore

As I remember it, some 15 yrs ago or so, ads for Marine Patrol were in the papers around December for January written tests and physical exams. Those that passed were scheduled for interviews in the near future with the "lucky ones" starting training at the Police Academy shortly thereafter, so as to be ready for the boating season.

Swim Test - 50 yard free style ...... is the swim test requirement down at the bottom of the page. Free style is your choice which can be overhand crawl, breast stroke, or side stroke.

Just swimming 50-yards seems to be a surprisingly short distance for an MP-applicant swim test requirement. Why ...... I can do a 50-yard swim with my hands tied together, my feet tied together, and blind folded ..... in icy cold water ...... all at the same time.

Swimming 50-yards is WAY TOO EASY to do ....... should be UPPED to a 250-yard open water swim test with some Lake Winnipesaukee wind and waves happening and no foam noodle swim safety belt allowed to be worn!!! ....
