Default Mama Moose on Moultonborough Neck

I was recently returning from a dog walk on the Neck, on the western side, just a bit south of Tecumseh, when a moose calf ran across the path, followed closely by the (big) mama. So I took the (very excited) dog back to the cabin, and went out to see if I could get another glimpse. Turns out they had circled around and were back behind me on the road. I got this photo from a distance...them waiting where the road meets the woods...

Always nice to see moose! My wife has never seen one in the wild and I keep hoping to point one out along a roadside nearby...they have been elusive except for my game cameras...they do pose for the cams occaisionaly

The calf ran across the Neck Road in front of me on Friday night. It crossed from the Fire Station parking lot to Tecumseh so they must be hanging around that area.

Yep -- that would be the same area. Hopefully Mama was nearby. That's a busy road with lots of speeding vehicles this time of year, and I'd hate to see them (or any drivers) in a collision.

Be alert, folks!

Elsewhere, lawn sprinklers are causing "sprinkler-hopping" by neighborhood moose escaping a heat wave:
