Smart way to do it Les. My son just put in 3 Mitsubishi mini splits plus a Mitsubishi air handler for his upstairs bedrooms. The system works well. They are hyper heat units, backed with propane baseboard. He runs them to about 30F where he shuts them down and lets the propane take over. The superheat units will work down to very low temps, but become more energy inefficient as they do. He's figured the point where to switch over and does it automatically.
I don't have a contractor because he had a lot of trouble with the guy he used. The guy is not local to the lakes and has been working to fix the issues, but the issues should not have happened in the first place. The contractor is not any of the companies mentioned so far in this thread. |

I've used Laconia Residential for Heating 'Gas' furnace and Porter HVAC for A/C,
and highly recommend ! Both companies are excellent for Service and stand behind their products. |
