Default Another chance for Christmas Island

Located at 644 Weirs Boulevard in Laconia this restaurant has had several operators in different forms over many years. This article seems like the new owner has a great idea. I hope it does well.

It's great to have the ambitious plans & I hope he succeeds. That being said, that success hangs on solving the lack of parking that property has.

Passed by McDonald’s yesterday and across the street I see there are renovations ongoing at the old Paugus Bay Marina showroom and I believe the sign said Whisky Tavern

I just met the previous owner at a local pub in Waltham a few weeks ago. He told me that him and another partner just bought the place as an investment and never intended to be in the restaurant business but after the first renter failed he took it over and ran it until he could find another tenant. It seems like none of them actually were experienced in running a restaurant. Needless to say, he was glad he sold and hoped this new owner could turn it around.

Default Parking

Woodsy nailed it. The issue with the location is parking. I grew up behind Christmas Island, so I am really hoping that it succeeds. Lots of great memories there!

The problem with that property could be parking. It was purchased by the gentleman who built several condos on stilts across the street from Paugus Bay about 1/2 mile north of the Margate. They are selling for a pretty steep price and I understand about 1/2 are already sold.

There are some negotiations going on with the Vet hospital next door to the old Paugus Bay (Fitzgeralds) building about using some of their parking at night when the business is closed. I don't know what has happened with that. The Vet hospital property has been owned by two investors from Gilford for a long time.

Default Pbm

The building that was the Formula showroom was originally Dan Fitzgerald's Dodge Viper dealership. One of the largest Viper dealers in the US.

There were rumors of another 'Little Miami' high rise on this property. Nice to hear it's not happening. Good luck with the tavern. I can envision a distillery and brewery in this building. The big problem is traffic both on and off the water.

Make it a cigar whiskey bar and I am all for it. So few places in the lakes region to enjoy a cigar and drink. Just whiskey, it will be a hard pass. My experience is straight whiskey bars charge exorbitant prices. With that said, oh course I will experience it once
