Default New resident on Mark

Here's Charlotte the dog! Polar opposite of our german shepard Niki, who passed last year. She's sweet, but at a year old , rambunctious as hell. Maybe by spring time she'll calm down a little!

yes...she sleeps a lot now, and is relatively calm throughout the day, but when I come home after an extended period, all bets are off...she's insane, but only for 10 minutes!

After the ice storm in '09, I hooked up branches to my dog to drag them to the woods behind the house. He wanted to work, so I let him.

You're very welcome. Given the nature of some of the posts in here, I like to go the other way. A lot of people seem to like them, they make me smile ( long as I'm not cleaning litter boxes), and that's all I care about!

The cats go to the bathroom outside, don’t they? They can’t be that spoiled that you have an indoor box.

Some do...some don't. I'd rather clean the little box inside than the " big litter box" by the water!

That is a beautiful fireplace!

Wood and natural stone - just can't go wrong with that.

Interesting story...the property manager of the camp next door was actually an old friend of mine. The camp's owner rarely came out so my friend and his family spent a lot of time there..we frequently shared drinks and campfires. One night, we were discussing our design ideas for the fireplace, and I talked about needing a mantel. He told me he was restoring an old farm in Stratham, and that he probably had what I was looking for. We found an old beam that was perfect for the project, plus some 200 year old oak for trim work. My wife and I brought the old wood back to life and I installed it, then had a mason come in to do the stone work. When it was completed, I took pictures of the fireplace to show him his contribution...he was thrilled with how it turned out!
2 years ago, while undergoing routine surgery, my friend passed away. The doctors were unable to revive him. We miss him so much, but are reminded of him every time we look at that fireplace!

This will be my last post on this thread... little Charlotte passed away this morning. I rushed her to the emergency vet in Concord this morning, she wasn't leaving the couch or eating...the thought is she got into some rat/ mouse poison and just couldn't fight it off. The island won't be the same without her making her rounds....

Default Congrats!

Congratulations Steve on the new addition to the family! So happy for you!

Is that a Yellow Lab or Golden retriever?

Dan

Thanks Dan... she's a lab, shepherd mix believe it or not...only 4 weeks old now and will be ready to go at Christmas. She was the only one of the litter to come up to us when we viewed them. She layed down, looked at us, and started wagging her tail. All my wife needed to see....first smile I saw from her since Charlotte passed.
