Hammering out a shallow well with a sledge hammer is so easy-peasy ....... www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-pn41fqYXs ..... New Hampshire's granite rocky soil is NO problem ..... YOU can do it! ......

Default Point

You would need to drive a point in connected to galvanized pipe with the pitcher pump on top. Are you thinking of a back up to existing water supply or just sort of decorative?

You know this guy making the video actually lives in New Hampshire on a 60-acre lot with a large mountain view, so it could maybe be somewhere close to Hanover, NH or somewhere in south West NH or somewhere which suggests the rocky NH granite soil is actually doable for a sledge hammer, shallow well.

Supposedly, a depth down to 32' deep is the deepest that a pitcher pump, or 1/2-hp, 3/4-hp motorized pump will work to draw up water due to the physical properties of water viscosity is what I have read.

Talking a 50-lb well point driver

Go rent a 50-lb well point driver and go slam that pipe down into the ground. For $14.30/day you can rent a well point driver at Rand's Hardware in Plymouth that weighs about 50-lbs, has two handles and attaches atop a 1 1/4" driver pipe cap. They also have a large fence post driver that can be used with well pipe, too.

On Wednesday's it's half price rental day, starting at 7-am.
