Funspot Fireworks
Does anyone know if Funspot is hosting its annual Memorial Day Fireworks show this year? I haven't seen or read anything about it. They've had a great turnout the past couple of years for the opening show of the season. Can't imagine why they wouldn't be going forward with it again this year.

No, they are not having them this year! Maybe next year.

I can confirm that they will NOT be held this year. They used to set the display to music on the radio, but the FunSpot owners/operators weren't interested in continuing the tradition.

Maybe insurance could have played a big part in the decision, with the new development above them, maybe the policy was too high. I also heard there was going to be no driving range this season

That's really a shame. My family looked forward to the beginning of the season at Funspot. It looks like it's going to be a down year for fireworks viewing on the Lake this year.

Even the Manchester Skyshow got cancelled this year due to lack of sponsors!

Money is still tight, and the economy is not any where near healthy yet. Or as martbri7 said perhaps it's an insurance issue which would not surprise me.

I remember going to one of the fireworks displays there and parking in an overflow area across the street. I think evryone turned on their radio and opened their car windows. What a fantastic audio video show!

Funspot is not having fireworks because there is now a gated community directly behind and to the left of their old driving range. In past years the community had not expanded into that area but now there is a pool, tennis courts and other structures. It wouldn't be safe or wise to ignite fireworks so close to homes and public areas for that gated community.
