Default Spectrum

Spectrum service in my part of Moultonborough out from 1:30 this afternoon to 10:28PM. Suspicious.....had a long outage a few weeks ago. Anyone know what might be going on? Seems very unusual. Maybe service upgrades / changes. Hard to imagine equipment failures like this for so long and repeated.

This spectrum user in MoBo has not been out of service. Been using the 400Mbps all day yesterday and today. Tummyman knows where I live.

However, just found an outage notice online.

Don't know when/if Tummyman will see this.

Been out for 5+ days.

Called Spectrum. 2 times.

The only answer I got was that they will give me a credit.

No word on when cable will come back.

Default Old fashioned cable?

My expectation is that the future of cable is limited. Third world and rural areas are developing with satellite and bypassing cable. While it is expensive to break into a market by building a cable network, satellites and other non-wire internet will bring forward more competition and the bundles that Comcast and others want to force on you will be gone. If Spectrum isn't working for you, maybe you're calling the wrong company?

Just got ours back on at 11:45 last night....out for 4 days. Many people rely on Spectrum et al for phone and internet. Since all of these wre out for days, many had no idea if they had freezing issues. Lickliy we use SimpliSafe for our security and they connect via cell network, so we were good with temp sensors, alarms, etc. etc.

Have you looked at the cell provider options, like T-Mobile and Verizon? I'm not sure if they're available in your area, but I overlooked them when I was looking for alternatives to Comcast last year.

I'm getting 500 mb download speeds with spectrum, they claim they can give you gigabyte speeds if you want to pay more. Nothing I've found comes close, but I'm willing to listen.

I got posts confused and assumed you were looking for more reliable service.

I have no idea what the speeds are for those cellular-based plans, nor whether they're reliable or not, I just know that many people overlook their availability.

Do know T Mobile max speed is 400 Mb on their plan. One of the reasons I avoided it. But, on a positive it’s only $50 a month and no equipment fee

I guess it depends on what the end user does—we were on 100 and were happy. Of course, we only have one TV and don't work remotely.

Xfinity at 300 and $68/mth. is perfectly fine for us, but I sure wouldn't mind saving $18/mth...if it were available.

That being said, in 15+ years with Xfinity, we've lost Internet exactly one time for three hours.

Then why would you switch? We had ABB/Breezeline and I can’t remember what is was before that for 15 years. But the buffering and outages over the past year became to much. When one is happy with a service it’s time to move on to another problem to address

We were looking because Xfinity had crawled up in price and we had three other potential options in town—unfortunately, T-Mobile and Verizon are only available in parts of town and Fidium, which is who we tried changing to, was unable to get fiber to where we needed without hiring an electrician.

Those of us who suffered long and hard had Breezeline, preceded by Atlantic Broadband, which was preceded by Metrocast.

Prior to Metrocast, it was Lakes Region Cablevision. Funny story about that. They did not come up our road. Dad called back in the mid-80s to see what it would cost to run a line to our house. The guy walked up from Rte 11 to our house with one of those wheeled measurements gadgets and then did the number crunching. Good news, he says, we should be able to get it done for $4,500 - $5,000. Dad said "thanks for your time".
