Sounded Like An Explosion
Around 3am it sounded like an explosion near our home. Everything is OK around our home. We don't have propane here. I called 911, but they never came by to look around. We live near Black Cat Island/Grassy Pond in Moultonborough. I wonder if anyone else heard it?

I'm in Moultonborough around Suissevale. I heard a loud noise around 3:15 and another one not too long after. I suspect the combination of melting snow and rain softened the ground and caused a tree to let go and topple over. It has happened in the past and the sound was similar and yes, it can sound like an explosion. I gave a quick look around the house and don't see anything and am waiting for daylight to explore further.

House fire and propane explosion near Greenes Corner, can't wait to see what Rt 25 looks like for the commute.
No word on injuries, but the scanner isn't saying anything about it, a good sign. |

Big one...
Wow! I'm about five miles south of Greenes Corner and heard and felt it clearly. The house shook and it even woke the dog. There was another, much smaller boom about 30 minutes later. I had it figured for an earthquake or the ice cracking due to the water level rising.
UPDATE: The Union Leader has an article about it, saying "A Linda's Way summer home was leveled in an explosion and fire". That is off the north side of RT 25, just east of Fox Hollow Road. The article goes on to say it was reported at 2:45, a half-hour before the big boom.

"Moultonborough fire chief tells wmur-tv that he believes it was a summer home and no one was in it at the time of the explosion and fire."
See today's March 13 www.cmonitor.com for a very brief report.

My wife says that she heard a loud "thud" in the middle of the night over here is West Alton. I had guessed snow sliding off the roof but don't see evidence of such. Just wondering.

The house that blew up is on the side of red hill. Not the big one you can see but the one just over from it. Nothings left just a celler hole.

Brand new home
New reports the owners had just received their occupancy permit within the last month. It is a seasonal home so no one was home at the time according to reports on the news tonight.
